Got a dumb question, but I noticed that even if the key is not detected the car can still move. Has anyone tried driving the car without the key? and how far can you actually go.

it has to go until the car is shut off because the battery could die during your drive, and you wouldn't want to be cut off all of a sudden.

If will keep going until you run out of gas or turn off the ignition.. I forgot my keys once and went to my parents house which is a good 10-15miles. My maxima does the same thing.

They should have implemented the same system Benz did, where after driving 50-150 feet without a key, the engine will turn off.

yes. as long as the car is running, you do not need the fob anymore. you can do whatever you want. if you shut the car off however, you will not be able to restart it.

there should be a recessed reset button to shut it off, or the car should go into limp mode if it gets too far. I've noticed this too and it basically allowed anyone to steal your car
