Default Illuminated Scuff Plate Question

Hey guys, I'm new here. I pick up my '08 IS350 on 12/22 and I am trying to get together some stuff for light mods before it comes in. I have the X-Package on it and i know the light color has been changed from blue to white. So my question is, did the LEDs change or did the LEXUS lens color change? Does anyone know how to change the color? I would like to go back to blue, but brighter of course.

In order to go back to blue you will have to buy the 06-07 Illuminated Scuff Plates

The 2008's are completely re-designed.

If it is the same as the aftermarket ones, they don't use bulbs - it is an electroluminescent strip.

I changed mine but got the replacement strip off the same manufacturer. EL strips work on a higher voltage and not sure even if you will be able to open up the Lexus one.

If you are handy with a craft knife I guess you could put some blue colored film over the letters but it wouldn't be brighter.

Lightbulb

It actually sits behind a clear lense...

2008 White OFF

2008 White ON

2006-2007 Blue ON

Very nice. Wish mine lit up like that. I like both the white and blue, so maybe down the road I'll see about picking these things up used. Just can't justify spending full price.

^^ Hey James

I have a set of the 08's on the way..

I'll have a full write up with pics, once they come in..

Also, my 2008 Aluminum Scuff plates are still wrapped in the factory plastic.
They will be sold as NEW... once i get my Illuminated ones.

Bought mine on a GB for about $160, and then sold the non-illuminated ones that came with the Sports Pkg here on CL. So total cost outlay wasn't much. Doing it like that makes it a very reasonable upgrade. It's a no brainer, imo. Why wait?

In the processing of buying a house here in Northern VA where everything costs an arm and a leg. These "want" items will just have to wait for a bit. I can't justify spending $160+ for some door lights...my wife would think i'm an nuts.

It will be a lot less once you sell your aluminum ones..
Their is a market for them on here..

Basically, all the Base & Premimum Pkgs have just the plain Black Plastic covers.

Who said she needs to know??? j/k

Good idea. I'll have to see what the going rate is for the aluminum ones.
