Had that problem years ago.

Easy fix. The lighter has to fit just snug enough for the heating element to cause it to come out. I just "formed", bent two little pieces of metal on the lighter outward a little bit so the lighter fit a little firmer.

It's caused by putting in an adapter that might be a tad larger causing the lighter to be a tad looser.

Just look for something that can be ever so slightly bent/adjusted. Or purchase another lighter. Also look inside the socket and you might find that their is some metal that can be slightly bent outward to cause the lighter to fit better.
