Default When do your puddle lights come on?

I find that the puddle lights in the side view mirrors don't illuminate until I have already grabbed the door handle--unless I just stand 5 feet away from the car and wait for them to come on. I assume they are functioning normally, and they are just more of a gimmick than anything else.

Anyone have a better experience with them?

Mine come on very quickly, when I'm in close proximity to the front doors, within 4-5 feet. I find the feature very useful at night.

Maybe the battery in your remote is getting low, but mine come on as I get within a few feet of the car. I have noticed that if you approach the car directly from behind, they dont come on as quickly as they do if you approach from the side.

Maybe that's the issue--that's the direction I normally approach the car from; kinda weird since there's a key detection sensor in the rear for the trunk. I haven't seen signs of battery trouble (it's only 5 months old, an I can manually lock/unlock the doors from several hundred feet away).

Lightbulb

I'm good for about 5-10 steps away, depending on direction...

If you hit unlock while your walking up to the car, they will light up for you in a dark area....

During the first night of ownership is when I had my one & only problem since. I walked towards the car, the puddle lamp wouldn't come on, and I couldn't unlock the door via touch. I had to walk away and come back.

It's been fine since...
