Hi guys... I was just checking out the (cough) BMW forum and came along a thread that showed CRs latest reliablilty ratings. Take it for what its worth, but CR rates the IS next to the top rung.

Interesting ...... BMW 335 is just above average, and Cadillac CTS is towards the bottom at way worse than average. The new 2008 CTS looks interesting but it would give me pause regarding reliability of an all new model when the previous generation was so poor.
I stopped by a Cadillac dealer two weeks ago and looked at the new CTS. Some good things about, the interior looked pretty sharp. But when I looked at what other Caddies they make; the big boats with gold emblems, padded vinyl roofs, Vogue whitewall tires, and the ubiquitous Landau Irons, it makes me wonder how much they've really changed. And how the service would be when I roll in for service in a CTS next to one of the barges which is still their bread and butter.

being average or near average is bad....even though some cars maybe slighly above average... its like saying... you get a slightly above average grade which is a C+...I don't know about you but I only like As and A+s

^^^ exactly.. I really like the 3 series body styles.. at times.. a little more than my 2IS, but you can't beat the reliability of Lexus/Toyota.. that was the kicker for me.. not to mention the 335 is more expensive than the IS
Come to think of it, my neighbor across from me has a 2007 MB C-class. Just tonight I was outside talking with her and her rear tail light has a problem (not her, rather her car). One of the lights will not turn off. More so, her husband commented on how underpowered the car is. The car is only a couple months old and she is starting to regret the lease. MB has serious reliability issues across their model line. Shame, I personally love the looks of the SLK.

My friend with a 335i replied by saying, well bimmers perform better. PSH, ya but you can get a IS 350 for at least 5 grand less...

Wow, the ES is about to slip into the dreaded black zone there. I guess all those people whining over in the ES350 forum have some legit gripes. I'm surprised the Volvo S60 is as high as it is there.

i'm saving this reliability chart image....this is crazy...good thing i made an investment on such a reliable car.
