Do you have memory seats? If not you have neither Lux nor Sport pkg.

(main differences between lux and sports, besides the sport suspension part, is Lux has a power rear sunshade, iilluminated scuff and wood while Sport has no sunshade, AL trim and scuff plates, and sport suspension and sport pedals).

It's possible you have just base (maybe premium, which is just wood and the upgrades seats without memory), plus the Nav/18/HID options (all available without any package)

Still lists both AL and Illum as "optional" under scuff plates for 08

But also says this in the standard features:

Illuminated Entry Illuminated entry system with scuff plates

How hard can it be for Lexus to write up a list of std/optional features??

EDIT--OK, I think I get it. White illuminated is std. Blue illuminated or Aluminum (non-illuminated) are optional if you get the Lux, Sport or X-Package.

The -entry- system is illuminated (puddle lamps, floorwell lamps, etc). The scuffplates are only -optionally- illuminated.

As far as I know ONLY lux/X pkg cars get illiuminated plates... ONLY Sport pkg cars get the AL plates. Everyone else gets the base plates.

08s get white only if illuminated. )6-07s get blue only if illuminated.

I haven't seen any 08s that don't fit the above, but then I haven't seen a ton of 08s either.

Yup, sounds right to me... base models (ie no Lux/Sport/X pkg) get the base plates with nothing on em and no illumination. Since you have an 08 it's about a 5-10 minute job to swap either the AL or the ILLUM plates onto your car if you want em though.

Then the Lexus press release on the '08 models, I would say, was misleading on that point:

The 2008 IS 250 and 350 features a new finish to its standard 17-inch wheels for a sportier appearance. Additional upgrades include backlighting on the outside power mirror control, white illuminated scuff plates and an additional coin holder.

Not really... the blue ones are upgraded to white... the only item it calls out as "standard" are the 17" wheels there.

Granted, it's a little confusing in that he coinholder is certainly standard (sadly) on all 08s, but hey, Lexus also told us for several years the stand-alone ML system plays DVDs, and that's a flat out lie.

Maybe so. In that case, they should have said "downgrade" to white scuff plates.

Well, that part's an opinion thing :P

Most folks seem to think the white look classier... my wife said the blue looked ricey... some folks really like the blue though.

I've got the Aluminum ones on the sport pkg so it's a non-issue... I think I'd need to see both side by side to really make a decision myself... but if I do that I'd probably like one of em enough to spend the $ to swap em, so I'm in no hurry

I'm assuming you mean RWD?

They are definitely options, but the way Lexus produces and ships to the US, they are forced options. I suppose if you could get one w/o HIDs or with 17"s if you found a stripped-down base model out there, or could find a region of the country that they may produce them that way, and have it shipped to you. Or special order.
