I have aftermarket wheels with aftermarket lug nuts (Gorrillas from Discount Tire), and I just noticed that I've lost my 2nd lug nut! I always use a torque wrench to tighten them to 90 ft-lbs, but I'm still loosing them! On top of that, when I checked the other lug nuts, several of them were loose!
Have you guys noticed a problem with the Gorrilla lug nuts?

The story thickens ....
I just received my new low friction / low dust brake pads, so I'm installing them right now. While taking one of my front wheels off, I find a lug nut that is seized! I spent about 40 minutes loosening a few turns then letting it cool, loosening a few more turns, then letting it cool ... until the lug finally snapped off! I haven't had these kind of problems since I started autocrossing 15 years ago!

Seized or cross threaded? DropTopGal had a cross threaded lugnut on her brand new IS which snapped off.Originally Posted by Gernby

Double check the wheel fitment (the hub-centric)... I had a friend whom ordered the right bolt pattern and offset for his car but the wheels were not hub-centric (to his car)... everytime he drove the lug nuts came loose... to a point where one of his wheels actually came off while he was driving (LOL). He went back to the shop and they apologized for not giving him the hub-centric adapters.

The lug finally came off or the stud just snapped? Some Toyota trucks/suv's & Lexus vehicles have weak studs so go easy on them. Sometimes even if you do go easy on them, since they're so weak you have a high chance of snapping the studs. Originally Posted by Gernby

EDIT: Are you using hubcentric rings?

This was what I'm thinking also. They have cheap centric rings that are univerisal. Also the lug taper can cause the same prolbem, if the lug surface area doesn't contact the wheel area completely. I'd pick up all new lugs.Originally Posted by wingster

I could have swore that lobux had a posting of 70-80ft not 90, and i think it was 70. could that be it?

ive never used hubcentric adapters on any of my rims...acorn lugs should keep the wheels on and tight.

this is really weird i have the same problem with the same bolts, they cross thread and they break the wheel studs.....i have 4 bolts on the back of my car right now

I'll never understand why people insist on overtightening stock fasteners. If you have the OEM studs, they expect 76 ft-lbs. If you are using hardened studs, use what ARP recommends.
FWIW, I've been using Moteki lugs on the tC with 5Zigen Pro Racers for a few years now without any issues. I've never used Gorilla.
