Ok so my IS350 is the first car I have owned outright in my name all to myself, no I am not 16 but I am young and my dad did not buy it for me. But I have been needing something that I can move stuff around with and just need more room then this car offers. Love the IS just does not work for me anymore, and I hate truck and suv's. Ok my question is about trading in the IS for another car. I have never done this before so I am trying to get a new Passet Wagon(give opinion if you want) but since the wagon sells for about $24,000 and I am hoping to get at least $30,000-$32,000 for the IS what will happen with the difference? Will they just right me a check for the $6000 difference or would it be easier to just sell it on my own then buy the vw? Please help me if you can do not want to go to dealership and have them try to take me. And sorry if this is just the most retarded question ever.

Interesting question.I'm curious to know the answer myself. I'll guess.
The VW dealer as usual will try to steal your trade but in your case probably worse.I think they would hate to write a check on a trade in but they probably will as they can always wholesale the 350 if it doesn't sell.

You are always better selling it on your own. If you own the IS outright (no loans) they will cut you a check for the difference. They will try to lowball you on the IS, especially if there is a balance coming to you. Negotiate the price of the VW FIRST, than introduce your IS and see what they will give you for it. If you mix the two together from the start (new VW and your IS) you won't know how much the VW is costing or the IS is worth. It is how they play their game.

I would stay away from the Passat. My friend bought one brand new 2 years ago and the first week it was leaking coolant. After that it was downhill from there. He got fedup with the car and sold it.

Your best bet is to sell your car privately on one of these website. www.craigslist.com www.autotrader.com www.cars.com. You will get ALOT more for your car then just simply trading it in.

I would suggest you get a Subaru Wagen like someone mentioned above. DO NOT GET A PASSAT!

First off dont get a passat, secondly i agree with llamaboiz about the Legacy GT wagon, it would be a lot better choice than the VW. I have heard horror stories about VW's. I would suggest trying to sell ur 2IS private party first cuz the dealership is going to lowball the crap out of you.

Ok well if the passet is not the best car to go with would someone give me a recommendation? I have looked at the subaru outback, it is not the best looking and has almost no power, but they are 4wd which I like. Not a fan of the Volvo V70. I had a Volvo S80 before the IS350, I liked it but transmission kept going out. Other then those I do not know of many other Wagons. Please let me know of any others I have left out and if I should look at them. Also I am looking to not have to pay anything for the new car, would like to be able to at least trade one for the other, but would like a little money back if possible.

I am not able to find the Legacy GT wagon on the subaru website. Please link if you can, thanks.

No not the outback, Legacy GT wagon. As for the no power, err you want a wagon so what do you expect? A srt-8 Magnum/S4 Advant? those will cost you a pretty penny...

Wait for the 2008 Subaru STI Hatch. I love having a Hatch you can fit tons of stuff in a Hatch. I moved my entire college dorm room in my Acura Integra Hatch, that was full computer with a 19 CRT monitor, 19 inch tv, frig, snowboard, clothes, etc etc. Thats alot of stuff to fit in an Integra Coupe!

With the STI hatch you get POWER and hauling space.

This STI should be pretty quick. Should be around 320hp. Quicker then your IS350. I might even consider getting one and selling my IS.

The GT is only the sedan.

No power for the Subie? The Outback wagon is available with up to 245 HP, in either a turbo 4 or a flat 6. True, the base Outback has 170 HP, but if you are looking at the Passat wagon @ $24,000, it has to be the 2.0, which has 200 HP--no speed demon.

ya i was going to suggest a A3 also, but the sti looks like a great option . i mean u wont get much faster for a wagon unless u go a AMG'd C-class haha, i think it can do under 14 for 1/4 mile
