Default Trade in values?

I am starting to look for a new car, and was wondering how much i will get for a trade in. Its in mint condition and Nada says about 29k to trade in and KBB says 28k. its a 06 250 AWD w/ 27K miles on it. so what do u think i will get for a trade value?

Since you have to ask, what you will get is "screwed". Your best bet is to get the best price on the new car, and then sell your old one to a private party for the KBB 'private sale' price (or better, if you can find a willing buyer).

As an example, Lexus offered me 7,000 for my 2000 Solara, and I sold it privately (via Autotrader.com, and Craig'slist) for 10,100.

I have sold a number of cars myself. You can't beat craigslist, espcially for the 'cash' cars. FREE listings!

Just don't fall for one of the many scams while selling private. The famous Nigeria one comes to mind where they give you a bad check or Money Order for more than your asking price. I'd try Carmax first and go from there. Oh and what car are you considering getting next?

CARMAX used to be a good deal for selling a car....NOT ANYMORE! They will give you LESS THAN KBB TRADE-IN!!!! don't waste your time there.

#1 thing I'd do is try to negotiate with the dealer for a trade-in...plus you get the tax benefit which could be significant!

i actually got a really good price from carmax for a 04 mountaineer that i traded in. they gave me 12k and i had paid 13k for it 10 months earlier and put 10k miles on it... I would NOT buy a car from carmax thought, there is a reason they do good with the trade in prices, they sell the cars for more!

Remember that if you get $28K in a trade, you save sales tax on that $28K in most states.
So you'll have to sell it for about $30K to break even.Tough getting $30+K privately.I'd trade it in.
No selling hassles.
Why would anyone buy a used 250 AWD privately for $31K when they can buy a Certified 250 AWD for the same amount or less?

I'm also thinking about selling my car too. Do you still owe some money on the car or have you already paid it off? I'm hoping to get at least $31K or more for my car. I have the 250AWD 2006 with 18,600 miles. The thing with trading it in, you will totally get screwed.
