How can you tell if the IS model car has a Mark Levinson sound system?

 

on the radio will say Mark Levison and it has a center channel speaker.

Well you definitely know you didn't get Mark Levinson in the northeast because they don't have ML on the cars up here unless you special ordered.

ML costs $1440 for Nav Equipped cars.

If the car has Nav, the most sure test would be to put the car in park+park brake and play a DVD

 

No need to test. It says Mark Levinson right on the front. It either says it or it doesn't. This is like asking if you have an IS 250 or 350.

 

Is it possible to install ML on a Base model?

 

you have to be much more clear with your question. did you mean you want to install it after the car has already been built or have it installed when you special order it.

depending on your definition of "base" model, which could be absolutely base or the most common premium base (premium package, HID AFS, 18"). Either of those "base" models you would have to special order.

if you mean having ML installed afterwards, you could do that but it would cost ALOT. you would have to swap out the CD player, change the wiring harness, swap all the speakers and install the ML amp.

Theoretically, anything is possible. Practically, forget about it. If you want ML you'll have to trade your car.

 

Yup, trading in your car and special ordering it would probably be cheaper than adding it in right now.
