Default Coolant Reservoir Cap Help

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone knows what the second hose on the right side of the coolant reservoir cap is for? I thought I had a coolant leak on my 06 250 and they pressure tested it today at the dealership. Everything was fine but when I looked under the hood tonight, I noticed that the short hose on the right was not connected to anything. I swore it was connected before I brought it in but I cannot tell where it goes, if anywhere. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Its an overflow hose...

If the Temp increases in the Radiator it will release fluid into the resevoir..

If the resevoir fluid increases pass the max line, the fluid will come out of the overflow hose downward.

Is the over flow tube that is attached to the cap on one end supposed to be connected to anything else or just left unattached to overflow into the engine bay?

Nope, it overflows into the engine bay... mine did, I have crusty pink stuff under the hose. No biggie, just rinse it off. It has not happened again this summer, I think it 'found it's natural level' and will not purge itself anymore.
