Default IS 350 Gas Mileage

When you guys fill up your tank in the IS 350 and you click the display button on the stearing wheel, about how many miles does it say you have before your tank is empty?

Usually somewhere around ~290-297, if I'm remembering correctly.

my 350 is saying like 350 miles and says the current tank ave is 16 miles to gallon. my first 350 would say about 260 miles to the tank. i think something is wrong with my new IS 350

Before I got my new wheels it *always* said between 330 and 335. Upon getting the new wheels, it has 344, and 342... yet at the same time the mpg meter reads as getting 3 miles less per gallon average. So I'm not sure how its running its estimates, or if they're just two completely different systems.

the reason its really getting my attention is because the tank is 17 gallons. and if the tank average is 15 miles that means if i bleed the tank all the way dry it will give me 255 miles. but its saying i have 350+ miles left on the tank and the average is 15mpg. that makes me think something is wrong with the sensors or the system itself.

Well, one night while hunting for a gas station that was open at 3am I managed to get it to read 1 mile left. Which was pretty accurate, the gauge read at past empty and the low gas signal had turned on 30 miles previous. I filled the tank until the gas shut itself off, and I managed to fit 15.2 gallons in. Typically if I run it really low, I'll get in the 14.5-14.8 range. So if its a 17 gallon tank then they must be measuring part of the tank that doesn't actually receive gas unless you top the tank off. Even then, 2 gallons would be quite a top...

Also, when trying to figure out how much mpg you're getting on paper, fill your tank until the pump shuts off, reset your odometer, then drive. On your next fillup fill the tank until the pump shuts off again. Divide miles driven by amount of gallons you just put in. Much easier than dividing by what you *think* the tank holds.
