Default Help with offsets

Hello all,

I am about to purchase my first after market rims and I need help on the offsets - I am a newb at this. I have decided on 19" Volk Progressiv ME's and I will be lowering the car on some Tein CS.

So what offsets should I order the rims in? I don't really understand the whole offset thing.

Thanks,
naga11

before you get flame here for asking a question that's been asked a million times, a popular fitment here on CL is

19x8.5 +37 to +42 with 235/35R19 front
19x9.5 +37 to +42 with 265/30R19 rear

If you are going to lower your car more than 1", then stick with offsets closer to +40 as the lower offsets pushes the wheel out towards the fender more and might rub.

Another suggestion is you go look thru the sticky on aftermarket wheel setup and read thru other CL members comments on their setup.

good luck!

Thanks for the info, neova.

I actually have looked through quite a few threads concerning wheels, however none of the information I gathered really explained what offsets were.

I guess I am going to have do some more searching on offsets ...

Default Sizing Volks for the Lexus IS

I'm interested in the Volk Progressive ME, too. I'm currently thinking:

Front
wheel: 19x8.5 Type I face +35mm offset (+16mm from stock)
tires: 245/35/19

Rear
wheel: 19x9.5 Type II face +45mm offset (+18mm from stock)
tires: 275/35/19

The tire size minimizes speedometer error. Here's an inspirational link:

and an offset calculator:

Enjoy.

I honestly think the offsets can be a bit lower IMO.

I currently have wheel adapters on my OEM 18's so I'm running 18x8 225/40 +35 and 18x8.5 355/40 +35. At this offset and with the slightly lower OEM sports suspension it sits pretty flush. I can probably run +30 offsets but if i had a full load of passengers and tried to turn a corner hard then tires will rub.

When people say their wheel/tire/suspension combo doesn't rub, you have to take into consideration the load and driving situation they're talking about.

some guys actually have their font wheels rub the inner wheel well when turning lock to lock but that only happens during parking so for them it's negligible.

DHZA8 - Thank you for the link to the offset calculator. However, it asks for the "current" wheel offset. What is the factory offset for the IS350? How do I use this calculator?

At the very top of the sticky thread: "Aftermarket Wheel Owners Post Your Setup", they're all there.
