Dumb mp3 question before I buy new IS
I currently have an IS300 and finally breaking down and getting a 2007 IS250 (I know, but I can't quite afford the IS350) Could someone tell me whether song tracks and info shows up on the radio screen (non nav) when you play an MP3? The dealer said that not all of them do that, only the newer cars on the lot (same year, just manufactured newer). I didn't bring in a mp3 disc to check, and feel sort of silly going back there just to pop in a disc. The salesman seemed a little unsure of his answer, so thought I would check with you experts.
Also - I can't believe that the 2008 Scion has a totally integrated iPOD hookup that shows track listings on the stock radio but the Lexus does not! Anyone know if that's a 2008 upgrade?
And one last OT question - anyone know if there will be any new colors with the 2008's?
Thanks - Gary

For what it's worth, I've already ordered a 2008 and have been told no changes other than the minor ones like the coin holder, different rim finish. Nothing of significance. When I was given the color choices for the car, I was not presented with any new ones.
So to answer your last two questions from what I was told, no on the iPod integration beyond the stereo miniplug jack they already provide, and no on the new colors. I guess the official word will come when Lexus updates their website to show the new models, but I suspect it will look pretty much the same as the '07s. I would expect the '09 models to get more noteworthy improvements than this year.

I probably wasn't too clear. When you pop in an MP3 disc (cd), does the radio screen show the track name and artist? On my daughter's 2005 Scion it does, and it's a great feature. I know that the iPOD does not - thanks!

It does on the non-Nav unit but as others mentioned you have to press a button to see it. It is also chopped off and does not show past a certain length. No scrolling feature either.
Yes, it is lame for a Lexus to not have have this feature nowadays.

Even worse then you thought - it actually displays the text for 5 seconds or so, then reverts back to the "track number" display. I'm pretty sure there's no way to change the behavior, although I only SKIMMED TFM (cue dramatic music).
