Default XM install on Non-Nav

To follow up ben r's excellent write-up on in OEM DIY XM installs, I'm wondering if anyone has the XM on their non-nav system. I'd like to get the unit and install it myself, but want to make sure that the text readouts work okay and you can get all the station info you need that little screen. Or should I just go with the separate XM unit from Best Buy.

Non nav here. works fine, same install. You get to save 3 tiers of 6 stations. It will cut off anymore than 10(?) letters.
