Changed my rims, getting the "CHECK SYSTEM" light, wondering if I can turn off the TPMS without going to the dealer??

 

can't you need new sensors for the new wheels or reuse your old ones.

if when u get your new sensors, and your running a different psi, isnt there 2 different setups for TPMS psis that the car can read? and you can toggle between the two (depending on which set of rims you have on)?

 

I think I wasn't very clear...

I have the sensors in my old 18" OEM' rims/tires, but I have my 19"s on the car now. Is there I can disable the warning light untill I get time to switch out the TPMS from the old ones to the new ones?

I'm sure someone knows how, everyone with aftermarket rims who didn't put their TPMS in them would have the same proiblem.

 

This topic has been covered many times. No one has figured out how to disable TPMS. Some have bought a second set of sensors. Some have took out their sensors and put them into a sealed PVC pipe (placed in the trunk). I dont have a link to the TPMS, but its there somewhere.

 

i don't think there's a way to disable them. what you can do is leave your oem wheels in your garage near where you park your car and if u don't drive too far, your light won't come on. it takes about 20 minutes of driving for the light to go on... well from my experience at least. if it does go on, the light will turn off when you park it back next to your oem wheels.

 

All you have to do if you dont wanna get new sensors is just take one of them from your OEM wheels and put it in your spare. Done. Call it a day!

 

what about the other 3?

 

You would need to put all four sensors in your spare for this to work. As an alternative, the OP could buy the iForged TPMS adapters and use those.

This is what I have on my JDM wheels. No drilling on wheels. TPMS is fully functional. The sensors used to be in a pressurized canister. All that has to be done is replace the valvestems. This will work for right angled valvestems. I don't know if iForge has a different type. Cost = $92.00

 

Mine is still on lol, havent bothered me yet.

Arent new sensors like $140 for 4??

 

got 4 brand new ones on ebay for $40. . .

 

It's not buying the sensors that bothers me, it's the time and effort to unmount the OEM tires, and my aftermarket, then remount both too... PITA.
