Default gear selector

is it just me or does the manual mode on the automatic tranny get a little fuzzy? it's not as crisp... it's like "hmm wait a sec, is that what u want, ok then, here's the gear u wanted".. is it because i'm driving nice during the breakin period? does it get better during aggressive driving?

Oh boy here we go again with this topic...

The "manual" mode is nothing more than a highest gear selector. Search around, there are a lot of threads here that explain it much better than I can.

I use the gear leaver to shift manually it seems way faster than the paddles. But if you really want the car to shift fast leave it in D

No way, prw mode is just way too jerkry. My ECU feels like it set 1 step up from snow, i touch the pedal and it just smoothly runs up to speed. Sooo nice. Telling ya ben you should test drive a 350 whats being alittle more in debt? come'on just goto the bank, everybody does it

I know it says to search, and I know that this is a known "issue"

BUT...............

My sister has a solara with the sport mode, and that car seems to have a much better response time (with regard to "gear select to gear change" time than the IS.

With that said, I agree with the above comments: just keep the car in drive, and it will shift plenty fast.

I haven't used Power mode yet, too afraid I'd take it way above 4K....I'm still in break in period. I haven't even fooled with the manual shifting or paddle shifters either been too busy playing around with the ML/CD's/Ipod/Nav stuff. Can't wait to see what power I have.

oh, ok...

just wondering cuz the acura tsx automatic tranny we have is really responsive, goes to whichever gear u tell it to, and stays in gear (won't shift even if hitting rev limiter), save when the speed is too low for the selected gear, then it comes back down.

just dont pay attention to the single number on the gauge, the one you want is the gear position display if you enable the gauge cluster to display it. I tracked the car in S mode and I felt it was in the correct gear, because I ignored the "top gear selector" number. I even had my instructor drive my car who normally drives a manual and he said it was fine.
