Does anyone have a fender lip rolling tool anywhere near miami,fl

i dont want to use a bat, scared of messing it up. there is a tool that is made just for this.

 

lol just use a steel pipe and a heat gun.

 

i used a hammer and a block of wood on my last car. also a spreader to widen the well.

 

Wow I have never seen or heard of such a thing... What exactly doest it "roll" or bend out out or move? Im kinda confused.

Using the tool in conjuction with the heat gun you can gain space between the tire and the lip inside the wheel well.

The heat gun makes the sheet metal more pliable while the rolling tool evenly bends the metal to the desired distance away from the tire inside the fender. The purpose of this is so the tire does not rub on the inside of the fender which potentially can cause damage to the tire.

 

Are you really want to crack your paint?
Even cracks almost invisible you will have them (lip thickness around 3-4mm).
It is better to cut it then roll it.

 

Thats why ppl are saying 'heat gun'...

 

Heat gun is good, but not at this kind of fenders. You have a pretty soft rubberized plastic stripe on the top of metal surface. Try to bend it and you will see what happened.

I talk to 3 reputable companies and all of them say the same:
"…You want to do it at your own risk? Go ahead, but we not suggest you to do so..."

 

so what can i do. i am running 20x10 and tires rubs when get a big dip on the road. i heard another way is to give it a - camber but dont want to do that because of the uneven waste of tire. it just need to barely get the lip out the way very few of it hits the tire. dont know about the wood and hammer idea.... sounds like itll bend more than i want lol =)

 

Rolling the fender is not a fix for major modification. It would be, from what you said, something that you want to look into.

As far as the paint goes, just about every company will tell you that you should do it at your own risk. There are several things that can occur that would hurt the car.

1. The paint can obviously crack and end up chipping away (down the road)

2. If the fenders are rolled too much then the fender and the paint on them can look wavy and it will not look right.


Fender rolling is a good option for those that need just a slight bit of clearance. Otherwise I would have the lip cut out and then ground down and made smooth. This will give you all the clearance you would need. This is also a much more involved process. Most DIY people do not have the tools to do this. Good Luck, let us know how it turns out.
