DIY - IS 350 Cabin Filter change
OK, I know this is in the manual, but figured real life pictures might help show you more detail with more of an explanation.
I've created a PDF(596k) of the steps instead of posting all the pics online with the steps. Some may not agree with that but I don't want to have multiple postings because of number of pics.
Here is the link:

Moderators: Since this file is over the 390k file limit size for PDF's uploadable to the site, I have an external link to the PDF. You are welcome to upload that PDF to this thread and remove the external link if you want. I just can't do it.
Thanks.
BTW - I'm also working on a DIY for Joe Z intake w/pics.

how much does Lexus charge to change the filter?
I was shocked when I found out that the filter change was a simple $20 DIY compared to a $80 ripoff at the dealership.

I change mine once a year. I'll also do an air filter change too when I'm doing the cabin filter. I did that with my Corolla. You know, the Corolla and the IS cabin filters are located in the exact same place. No surprise there.

This was the first time I'd changed mine. One year anniversary coming up on 7/29/07. You can see how dirty it is from 1 years(24k miles) worth of driving and AC use. I might change it every 15k miles now. That's when the first scheduled service is for it's change(I think) so it would make sense to keep it at that interval, at least for me.

I actually just changed my cabin filter yesterday too for the first time in 23,000 miles. It was extremely dirty and I should have changed it out per the maintenance schedule of every 10k miles. I'm not sure a DIY is necessary as there is already a DIY in the owners manual for the cabin filter, but you have a very nice write-up. Also out of curiosity, how much did you end up paying for the filter? My dealer charged me $42. I also heard the 07 camry uses this same filter, but I can't verify at the moment. May be able to save us a few bucks for our next cabin filter change.

I agree on the DIY might not be necessary especially since it's in the manual. I was taking pictures of my Joe Z Intake + K&N filter install so I thought I'd do this one also. Figured the filter change w/pics might encourage other owners to DIY instead of taking it to the dealer and spending twice as much.

Make sure to put in your model in case the part number is different. I don't think it is though.
