Default After Market Video

Has anyone tried to convert the sunglass holder to a video screen? I have the non ML NAV and I cant get NAV TV in Vegas (Seems that there are still some issues with the electrical side of it). So I was thinkingof putting a DVD player in and didnt want to put the screens in the seat. My kid sits in the middle so I thought that would be an excelent spot to put a 7 inch drop down screen. Any thoughts?

Problem with doing this is I'm sure you notice how hot your sunglasses get inside that thing on a hot day. If you put the screen in there it will get hot also and I would be afraid of it getting damaged.

If only the IS didn't come standard with a sunroof. Not only would I have an extra 1.5 inches of headroom, but my original plan was to add a drop down screen from that area...

i dont see the issue of it, i would ask the stereo shop how they hold up against heat. they are still getting direct sunlight in your headrest arent they and its getting hot inside the car in general. i would check into this. good place for it to be hidden from theft also!

let us know what you find out!

I went to 702 Motoring here in Las Vegas for Options and while they could do the screen, it would be way too small (4x7) IMO to view from the back seat...they recommended NAV TV so I am going with that. I ordered it today and should have it installed by next week. Seems like a good price compared to the head rest DVD. Lexus said that they have factor head rests with DVD, but they want almost $3000.00 to do it. Maybe down the road...

NAV TV will integrate video with my NAV at the flick of a switch and FM Modulate the sound through the speakers (good and bad) Good, unless your kid wants to watch barny for the 5th time in a row. I'll keep you posted and provide pix when its done.

NAV TV: www.nav-tv.com, but check with your local shop that you trust.

If you put one there, dont you think it'll distract you? and be too far form the rear seats for the kids to see?

Why not just put (2) 7" LCD's in the back of the headrests?

Well I think your sig says it best - Dare to be Different...I may still put them in the rear seats, but for now i think it is cool to have it in the dash. You raise a good point though...I need to check if I can intigrate the two together...that would be cool.

Nice try.
By looking at its ratio of the disc to the headrest, that is a huge headrest for 2IS. That prolly for a full size pickup or a SUV.
