Ya' think?? Why on earth would anyone spend that kind of money on an item that isn't needed? When you come down to it, remote start is for the lazy.

nah its more for the saying you got it at the shows :P if you have a show car price is not an issue most of time...Just for the sake you say you have it on the car earns you more points with the judges plus its a cool feature to have.

That reason is as lame as those who justify it because they like getting in a warm car in the winter.

An item that isn't needed, but is nice to have... Isn't that the definition of luxury?

Between the seat heaters and the uber-powerful A/C I haven't really felt the need for a remote start, but for those that do and have an extra $1400 burning a hole in their pocket, why not?

No problem-o with anyone spending $1,400 on remote start. At least for me the performance/price ratio on that item approaches zero. I don't currently live in a cold climate, but did grow up in MN, WI, SD and Atlantic Canada. It's just not something I would entertain. But for others, go for it.

Hang on a minute.....isn't that the one from Lexus Japan but we don't know if it's compatible with US spec cars? Perhaps that's why it says "discontinued"?

Well, if you did you could pay $200 for thermal underwear and a good jacket, and save $1200.

I am amused as people will post here how hard they negotiated to get the absolute best deal on their IS, often fighting for the last $100 or so, yet some folks will toss $1400 on remote start with nary a thought.

I tried to put it in the cart and it would not let me, when it is 110 out and your puting your kid in the car it would be nice to have the air started on the way there. My guess...not going to happen, besides it's discontinued. Drunkebuda if you get a response let us know.
