Talking Got my lexus today!! (PICS UPLOADED)

Pics further down page
Well guys, i was excited about getting my lexus and started browsing the forums about a 2 weeks before i got my car. Anyway, today i finally got my Lexus its a Black IS350 with Navigation and cashmere interior. I will post pics up tommorow when its light out. After browsing the forums here are some future mods I plan on doing. Redding out the tail lights, putting new rims (possibly some Zenetti black rims, depends on how much money i have) and adding 20% tint all around. I plan to get the tint done sometime this week, and the rest hopefully within the month. Well guys, sorry there are no pics... you will just have to wait until tommorow.

Oh and one question this is a brand new car there were only 12 miles on it when i picked it up, so how should i break in the engine, or how many RPM's do i have to keep it under and for how many miles? This is my first nice new car and i want to baby it, so any help would be appreciated!

Hey welcome to Club Lexus. I kept mine under 3,500 rpms for the first 1000 miles and then i let it rip! Do the basic mods first like red out tails and tint. The Zenettis are a good choice of wheels. What size are you getting? Post pictures when you get a chance.

I plan on getting either 18s or 20s it really depends on my money and the rubbing issues if their is any with the 20s. Oh and i got on it today to see what she had, i couldn't resist, but i started with 12 miles on it and now it has 43, do you think that because i was driving over 3,500 rpms it could have damaged the engine at all? thanks

Am with Tony here...I kept mine also under 3500RPM for the first 1000 miles althought some people same lesser miles but you want to let everything break in very good if your going to be driving it hard...oh and one more thing easy on the brakes too! What package does your 350 have?

Break-in on the 2IS, you'll get different answers here, half say go easy, half say dont need too, and half say do it in increments... wait thats 3 halves...

The engines are built with such tight tolerances that they dont even use break-in oil anymore. The oil in your car is the same oil that you'll get when you go in for service. I went with the 3rd option, first couple hundred mi i went easy, then bumped it up in increments of 1000rpm per 150mi with a couple of ZINGERS all the time cuz... well its FUN

Welcome and congrats....

I go by what Lexus says for break-in, not what some salesman or cyberspace drivers say. You only get one opportunity to break a new engine in correctly, and if it isn't, you won't know it for some time.

Good luck!

In general, just drive "normally". Don't race it. WHen I first got it, I felt I was pushing it kind of hard because I drive on the freeways--very little city driving. Going 65-70mph, I really have no choice....but this car is quite capable.

Speaking of redding out the taillights, can you guys give us a link to the DIY if any?

i would drive it conservativly for the first couple weeks, then your ok. This motor is pretty bullet proof so i doubt pushing it a little will hurt it.
congrats! i wish the cashmere interior was easier to clean, or i would have gotten that option.... it looks very luxury.

good choice on rims, i would go 20's if you get the brand and model, 18's would look way too small. I have 18's but they are full faced without a lip. Rims with lips seem to look smaller then they are.......

welcome
