It was 116 here in Las Vegas so I can't leave anything volatile to heat in the car. My sunglasses get so hot they would burn up things. My ipod can't stay in the car either.

another alternative is go get plastic frames
I would be careful with plastic sunglasses under a hot sunny day in the car. I work at an optical store and I sometimes get customer coming back saying that their glasses lenses falls out or their plastic frame is bent out of shape. All these problems occur because plastic will warp under very hot condition.

one of my sunglasses fits in the sunglass holder but my new ones won't fit so if i have to leave them i leave em in the glovebox..but my other ones do get really hot in the sunglass holder and yes putting it in front of the ac does actually help =]

I also think the OP was refering to the sunglasses holder. Mine gets way too hot, so i hang them on the A/C, get out of the parking lot then they are good to wear!

Default Hot Sunglasses

I put mine in a Crown Royal bag.....keeps them cool and you can toss them on the seat or wherever and they aren't in plain view. I hate to admit it but I followed that link we saw previously and bought one of those "fridge" bags!!! HA!!! Not for sunglasses though.

the center console might work, but the glove compartment is the best bet.

Maybe try a front windshield screen when you park? Lower cabin temp = lower temp on every object
