Now that you have us all interested please keep us informed of your journey and how you make out so we can get another data point.

Personally, if I ever want to tick off my wife I'll use the phrase 'we'll see'. That's code word for 'NO'. You use that phrase a lot, so by extension I could translate that to mean 'I'm not really serious about purchasing this car unless I can make the dealer cry and get it way below the dealer price'.

At this point you should know if you want a Lexus or a Bimmer. The fact that you haven't even looked at BMW yet indicates that you really haven't done your research, and you don't know what you want. Most car dealers can sense this and most will put you in the 'tire kicker' category. Obviously I could be completely wrong, but the sense I get is even if presented with a very fair deal it won't be good enough for you for one reason or another. That's because you really aren't ready to purchase this car. Again, I could be completely wrong but that is what I take away from two pages of this thread.

Good luck.

Thank you for the comments. My primary interest is the IS350, with BMW being my secondary. Yes I do agree I should have done some research on the BMW, but I was hoping that the IS350 dealing would go through. Well I did not want to sound like a pissant in my threads or responses, but if I came off that way on this forum I apologize. But I have definitely been professional and respectful to the dealers and their motives.

I understand it is thier job to get me into the dealership and get their best deal, while my job is to get my best deal. For me buying a vehicle cannot be a rushed process and doing so would lead to a price that I may not be content with later on. I still have about 2 to 3 months before I move to So Cal, so anything within that time is doable. Some may think, well if I buy it now where will I park it if I am still in Nor Cal. Well, with the wifey's sister of course. Anways thanks for the comments, I will keep this board informed.

NAV 2200

= 33,900 invoice price + (7.25% CA sales tax, I think?) = 36257 plus title, license, freight.....

I just don't see anything close to what you mentioned happening.

I can understand wanting to get a good price, but you might want to make sure you can afford it if this is what you're thinking. If $35k will make or break you, then you should get something different. No offense intended, I just think being 'car poor' is stupid.
Like I said, I am flexible. But when I assumed people here said invoice, I assumed they meant invoice OTD. Am I mistaken?

I take no offense to any of your comments, since any comments is good learning in some sense. It is not a matter of being 'car poor', rather just trying to get the best deal. Thank you for the comment.

I got $4K off MSRP (still about $2500 over invoice) when most people were still paying close to MSRP. This was when the dealership had 3 350's in stock and they only had 1 350 coming in a month in the config I wanted.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Exactly my assumption. You were able to get an unheard of deal when others were paying MSRP. It may not seem like alot today, since everyone is getting almost 4.0 K off MSRP for an 07, but at the time (06) that must have been an amazing deal. Good job. Thank you for the support.

Hi,

Yes I did see your post, and I understand your concern. I understand that you are just trying to tell me your facts, and I really appreciate it actually. It gives me some insight on what the dealership is thinking. If possible could you tell me which dealership you work for? If not, that is okay as well.

I think 1500.0 over invoice is a decent deal of course, but I have read that some have gotten 250.0 over invoice with a well equipped Lexus IS350. As I had stated earlier, the packages I am looking for are x-package with nav (prem. I believe is standard these days). Nothing fancy, no ML, no lux, and thats it.

Perhaps I am not perfect on the understanding of how a dealership works, but to me, getting a vehicle off the lot, and maybe taking a small hit is way better than having the car sit there for 3 months and then take a small hit. I mean during those 3 months, they could have sold 3 GS, 3 LS, 3 IS350, etc. making back a very healthy profit from the small hit. That is how I see it.

Thanks for the comments as usual. I would like to reiterate that I am in no way trying to denounce other members' experiences, merely citing my thoughts and actions. I love to hear from everyone's comments. Thanks you.

Maybe I will send another email their way if it is possible to deal. Thanks.
Yea I know, I jumped on that. Talked to Julian in the internet sales department. had 10 miles, brand new. only bummer was they drilled the front bumper.

MSRP is NOT 6500 over invoice.

Well thank you very much, but I can tell you this. Our negotiation has ended, not a bad note I feel, but all in all I would recommend Newport of Lexus to anyone. Hugh was professional and courteous, though he did not give me the deal I wanted. I feel that they were very responsive and did not rub me the wrong way at all.

I can give you all the details of what the final offer was and it was definitely lower than what some have quoted to be able to get, but I feel that it may be in the best interest if I did not publicly post it, since a final deal was not made. I want to be respectful of him as well as the negotiation business. But I can say, some if not many would jump on the deal I got (black/black, with x-package, nav). You can always take a guess at what it is if you really want to but I will not give our numbers.

I will try my luck with another dealership since California does have quite a few, and hopefully I will get something that I can live with. Thank you very much and I will keep the board informed.
