leaving the car for a long time
Hi everyone
i will be leaving the country for 2 months and i am really worried about what am i going to do with the car ..
should i just park it in the garage and put a car cover on it ?
and should i disconnect the battery from the car ? and what are the things that are going to be restored to the factory settings when i do that?
or is it better if i gave it to someone to start the car every couple of days .. or is it not an important thing to do?
sorry for the many questions ..

2 months isnt too long a time a worry about. BUT if you got a trust worthy friend or better yet a relative, give them the keys and tell them to drive around the block once a wk to at least rotate the tires. AND to keep the fob more than 1meter away from the car.

These are the foreign versions of the current IS. I believe the 2007 IS300 is sold in the middle east. The OP is from Riyadh.

Correct!
Riyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia. There is actually a 2007 IS200, IS250, IS300 and IS350 on this little place we call Earth. Here is the ole USA, we only get 1/2 the models. Crazy marketing schemes...
(A quick google search says there is no 2007 IS200. My bad, forgive me.

The reason is that stale gas is bad for your car. You'll risk the chance of getting some water in the gas, the additives go bad, etc.
A small bit won't hurt your car as long as fill up and mix it with new gasoline. However, a full tank can be bad for the car.

This is what I do when I store my car for 3 or 4 months in the winter up here in Canada.
1. Wash and wax car
2. Fill tank to the top and add in gas stabilizer. You can buy this from any auto parts store. Drive a litte after you have added in the gas stabilizer so that it mixes in thoroughly with the gas in the tank
3. Buy a smart battery charger. This is the kind that trickle charges your battery to 13 volts and then goes off. When the charge drops below a recommended level (I think it's 11 volts), the charger comes on again and charges the battery to 13 volts. It is called a "smart" charger because it detects the charge voltage in the battery and does not overcharge the battery.
That's it! No need to ask anyone for help driving the car or anything else.
My car always starts without fail and I have never had any issues with storing it like this for the past 4 winters.
Your tires will get some flat spots, however after driving for a few miles/kilometers and they are warmed up, they will be fine. On the other hand you could try to inflate them about 10 psi more than normal and then make sure to remember to deflate them back to the recommended psi when you do drive the car. This will reduce the flat spots even more.

Well, I work for a large oil company, you know, the one with the yellow pectin...and yes we have gas stations that we all know and love.

Driving the car around the block just to warm it up once in a while is just doing damage for no benefit. The only thing you need to worry about in such a short time period is your battery going dead. The best thing for this is a Battery Tender. It is made specifically for storing cars and boats for extended periods of time.
i left most of my cars for 4 months on time cuz i do a lot of travling and sometimes i dont have time to drive most of my cars and they run great just the way i left them before the trips...just expect to jump start your car the first time you start it up then it be all good.
