Default Cheap wheels

I was wondering what the market was out there for cheap wheels but clean for the IS. Does the IS come with the same wheels in Japan?

Reason why I was asking because I know for the BMW market you have your replica CSLs, replica M6 wheels, etc. etc. Nice and OEM looking wheel alternatives. Are there any wheel choices like this for the IS? I would like to find some wheel alternatives for the fiance but we don't want to break the bank on the IS. If it were *my* car, I'd probably get a set of Works but she probably won't be lowering the car and doesn't want something so attention getting.

Have you checked out the OEM accessory wheels: G-Spiders, ISP, X-pkg, Tourmalines, GS 18", etc. Most can be had for under 1k shipped . . .

The best thing to do is to go to a Wheel/Tire store and get ideas on which brands of wheels you like, the sizes available that will fit, the cost (and it varies significantly depending on quality and manufacturer), and of course, the styles that you would like.

Your budget and taste should tell you what you put on your car, not what other people recommend. Recommendations are nice, but your own opinion is the best...

^^^^^^ Agreed. You may find that you end up liking something better than the OEM look and still find a cheaper rim.

Pictures anyone? Esp. of the OEM accessory wheels? She has the standard 18s found on the Luxury package.

Oh, I know what *I* like, but I haven't found anything remotely cheap. I am personally a fan of Work Rezax, BBS LMs, SSR Professors, etc. type of wheels.

anything that says "racing" or "TypeR" in the name is sure to be cheap!
Tenzo, ICW, Primax,Anything wheelmax or wheelnex is pretty inexpensive......

i would rather roll stock then waste my money on that garbage

Wow, stong words there.

A nice, inexpensive wheel is the Sevas line. Relatively light weight, nice huge lippage, several finish choices and they have the right look.

The MRR line is also a qulity wheel that won't break the bank.

My net cost for upgrading to G-Spyder OEM wheels was about $150. I sold my stocks for $650ish and bought the new G-Spyders for $800 when Sewell was running their promo.

sure the replicas are cheap, but how durable/reliable they are? i'd rather driving with my OEM stock ones than opening a can of worms down the road....aint funny when the rim give way / bent when driving in the freeway.....

OEM replicas from what I've seen/read are decent quality wheels. I'm personally not into knock-off wheels that copy a HRE/BBS design, but I do like the pictures of the G-Spyder (thanks Taylor).

istundra - Great thread! Thanks.

FWIW, I ordered a set of BBS LMs for my car.

you were asking what was innexpensive, and in my opinion those are.
as for sevas, they are decent for the money. Axis is decent too, but are pretty heavy but have nice styles if you dont want to spend the coin to get JDM high end etc. etc.

Hi, I have had my share of "cheap" wheels before. Not all wheels are created equal.. one of the reason I bought the IS is for the factory alloys is already 18s which I won't want to upgrade. Whenever something is offered from the factory you can almost be sure they are good quality.. if not only a little heavier.

What is wrong with cheaper quality wheels? They tend to bend and their finish may not last as long.

Of course there are wheels aftermarket that are better than OEM wheels, but usually you get what you pay for so watch out for those replicas

^^ I hear ya Stock4AG. I would actually prefer nicer OEM wheels for the fiance. How can I say this? She's just not adept to driving a car with aftermarket wheels as I would be. I'd like to get her a nice set of wheels that she wouldn't have to worry about bending if she goes too fast over a speed bump, pot hole, etc..
