I found out within 2 blocks from my house, there are 4 IS's (including myself)
one 350 and three 250's.
Is this a good thing or not?
It's a good thing. Now the 4 of you can have an IS meet everyday! My IS is still on order, so everytime I see one I get excited. Instead of taking my normal route, I actually take a different street to be able to get a glimpse of a neighbor's IS in her driveway.
I too in NY see a lot more. I think when i first got my car 15 months ago, I think it took me about 2 months to see another one. Now I see about 2 a week. But every single one i see is a 250 awd so I still feel better. I think I see another 350 maybe once a month,, maybe
older guys that look like they are in their midlife crisis (not to offend but I'm in my 20s a looonng way off from that ).
*COUGH* ok ok ok... MY is350 is NOT a mid-life crisis car, since i got my lic at 15 back in the early 80's all i've ever drivin are 2dr sport cars, 5 - 72' corolla sr-5's (one was a right hand steer 2dr wagon)/82' sr-5/69' camero convertable show car/65' mustang *98% jenny*/90' prelude bought new/MKIII turbo supra/89' 5.0 mildly tuned... plus a few more I've forgotten. This is just another in a long line of sports cars for me. The mid-life crisis part for me was that it had to have 4drs/automatic/get decent mileage when compaired to v-8's, mid-life for me is all about slowing down and MAYBE starting to act my age... kinda
To go with what jdanon was saying, there does seem to be a pretty... different demographic with the IS than I imagined. It's definitely different than the IS300. I see a lot of young girls driving them... I guess they're like the new Mercedes C-class, haha.

I live in Rock Hill, SC(can you say southern draaawww), but work in Charlotte, NC. Only 70 mile commute every day.
In Charlotte, where the Lexus dealer is, I only see about 1 IS every two weeks and it's mostly a girl in a 250. In Rock Hill, SC, I've only seen 3 IS's since I got mine 10 months ago and I think it was the same girl.
I love the IS being so rare in SC. Mostly pick-up trucks and Suburbans want to race.
I see more and more is250's in dallas then I would have ever believed. Like someone said above, I hope it doesn't end up like the damn g35's that you see freaking EVERYWHERE!. Now i still go at least a week without seeing another 350 around.
Right now I love to point out the other IS250's. We saw one on the highway Saturday and it was great imaging us driving ours.
We joke that our new car will be our midlife crisis car, but truthfully it's just the time in our lives that we can comfortably afford it. We had our Toyota Celica (newly married), Volvo (new baby), Acura Integra (Dad's turn for a quick manual transmission car- 4 doors for kids), and Toyota Sienna Van (for toting kids, friends, and families-it was the van with the most pickup). Our Acura is a 1995 with just 85,000 miles and it's just been passed on to our son. The Sienna is a 2000 and still going strong. No payments for years allows us to do this. We chose this car because it was the only Lexus with M/T which my husband insists on. I kept pointing the car out on the streets trying to convince him to try it. Since our kids are teenagers, we wanted something that we could cart them around in with us, without it being a death trap or hard to see out of (RX-8 and Tiburon).
There are not many down here in Florida, and finding a M/T was impossible. We just ordered one. I know how you young folks feel. I used to shutter when I saw "old" people driving what I thought that I should be in...but you're as young as you feel and I'm proud that I'm able to get this now. It means even more to me knowing that I worked for it and had to wait.

+1 I'm at UCLA every week and when I head home it's not uncommon for me to see 2-3 ISs. My favorite was when I was going onto the 5S one time. There were 2 ISs, one white one black in front of me and another black one behind me. I thought I was in some sort of IS convoy.
