Default First Time Dragging the IS

So I went to No Problem Raceway last night with some friends. I'm a little disappointed because my best time was 13.9 and worse is 14.2. Hopefully next time I go I hit a 13.6 or so. Is there a certain way you guys launch the car?

dat-is350 what you need to do is look at the weather. Figure out what your Density Altitude was at the track last night. I bet money is was above +1000. Also, how were you launching?

The Density Altitude for you last night in Patterson, LA was approximately 1375ft. Not very good for making power. The DA for us Friday night was pretty bad too at 1448ft. ThoLe who also has a stock IS350 got a best time of a 13.9 with the similar DA. My best along with Waynetech2 were able to hit pretty consistent 13.6's, but we have some mods. The way to really compare runs is to look at the trap speed. The trap speed will typically show what kind of power you are making. ET, though related to trap speed is greatly affected by the 60' time. Wait until the fall when it gets cooler or the Barometric pressure hits 32 and try again. You will be pleasantly surprised.

thnx alot caymandive. I tried several different things at the track. First was normal everything on and just mashed the gas when the light turned, which I ran a 14.2 Then I did it again with traction control off. I ran a 13.9 with that one. Then I tried traction control off and brake torque at @ 2K rpm, Which I ran a 14.0. Finally I ran traction control off with pwr mode on, brake torqe at 2.5K and ran another 13.9. What technique do you use to gain the best results?

For some reason when I try brake torque, my times always suck. I've tried it at 1500, 2000 and 2500rpm and always got worse times and 60' than if I just mash the pedal when it's time to go. I basically sit with right foot on gas and left on brake and punch it on the 3rd yellow.

I have mixed launches. at the 1/8th mile track i grip really good so I brake torque up to about 2k. At ennis 1/4 mile track, I do what Caymandive does. If i brake torque there i end up sliding. I was peeling out a lot last time i was there, it was pissing me off.

Come toward Gulfport! I know that No Problem is basically on the other side of the world, but Gulfport Dragway is pretty much at sea level, and if its not a really hot/humid night times are fairly decent. I ran mine on a semi warm day, brake torqued to about 1500 rpm and got a 13.6

I now have an intake and will just smash the gas the next time I go. Or maybe I'll cheat and wait till winter. Hehe.

That's the same thing i do. If i brake torque my times gets worse with some wheel spin.

I'm in the same boat, hoping to go for my first time this weekend. Do you guys typically leave VSC off for better times? How much gas do you keep in for weight? Do you remove the spare? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

ECTPower button on? Which type of shift, regular or paddle?
Also, did you or anyone else do any brake torquing, if so, how many rpm's did you let it go before letting loose?

Slightly off-topic but where in Ohio are you and what track are you heading off to?

Why are you in the area? I'm in Cincinnati, hoping to head to either Edgewater or Tri-County.

you'll get slower time when you use paddle shifts. i wouldn't recommend using it.

Even if I let it slightly bounce of the rev limiter!

Any other advice? Anyone?
