Default Just bought an IS. New guy!

Hey guys, I've been lurking here while researching this site, and finally made a purchase on IS350 over the weekend. Its an 06 model with 11,000 miles, but its spotless.

As new to luxury brand, I still cant believe I bought one. It feels good to just be in it. It kind of happened sooner than I had planned. I planned on getting one towards the end of the year when I had enough down payment for a brand new car with monthly payment I wont cringe over. Well, my friend was test driving a new truck and I caught the bug. I was only going to test drive... yeah, right. I went and test drove one at a dealer but the new car cost was 5 grand over my planned budget with options I wanted. They keep pushing the IS250 on me but I wanted more H/P on a car. My modded Jetta VR6 was making as much power as the IS250. I told the guy, with about the same money, I could get a R32. I am a fan of VWs, but the look of the new VWs turn me off. I couldn't make the deal. I went home but I was salivating over this car after seeing it and test driving.

I went home and started to look for used models in the area. I found one I liked, call the dealer, told them what I want to pay. They said come on down! test drive, and we'll make you a deal! I was there three hours beginning to end. I was on the verge of walking out three times! They were jerking me around and I was getting pissed. At the end, they were hassling me over $500! Finally got a number I could go home with but not what I wanted at the beginning. Nevertheless, I think I got a good deal and smiled all the way home looking at what I just bought. I dont have pictures, but you guys know what it looks like. Its Charcoal Grey with black leather interior.

Now about the car I will have to change in the future.

Coilovers- Coming from a modded car, its a little too cushy and too high off the ground for my taste. I need a fast reacting car.

Exhaust- way too quiet for amount of power it has. I already miss my Vr6 sound, low hum/growl but not too loud.

Wheels- I dont care for the factory 18 inch wheels look. Set of BBSs in mind.

Is there an after market side mirrors that are smaller for IS? Its humongous!

I also need to have faster throttle response when the gas peddle goes down. It helps to disable TRAC & VSC temporarily, but I hope there is a permanent solution.

The car is great but I will have to make some changes to suite my taste. I've learned a lot searching and researching this forum and I thank its members. See ya guys around!

Congrats for your first Lexus and Welcome to the Club!

My, you do have a "need for speed." Unfortunately (for you), since Lexus is more Luxury than Performance, they purposely designed the coilovers, exhaust, and wheels for comfort. Fortunately though, that can all be changed rather easily.

As for the side mirrors, they are quite big, and I haven't heard of anyone changing them yet. Perhaps someone will figure out a new mod sometime soon.

I hope to hear more from you and the changes you have planned for your car. You'll find tons of info in our Forum, and I hope you can provide some input as well.

Good luck and enjoy!
