Default Why ask 'Should I' ?

Why are there so many posts asking

'Help me decide'
'Should I do this'
'Which looks best'

etc
etc
etc?

Can't anybody make up their own mind on what to do to their car?

people will make up their own mind and make their decisions in part based on the results after they gather the thoughts and ideas from other individual who have similar interests and whose opinions they value. new concept for you, i can tell.

Because people have been brought up to expect affirmation from other people. They don't want to make a decision that might not be seen as cool by their peers. People are basically sheep.....baaaah.

Ive got a question... why did you start this thread?

Everybody asks those questions because they care about what their fellow CL peers think. Our opinions matter to most CL members. We come here for information, advice, thoughts, ideas, humor, fun, and to talk about ANYTHING even remotely related to Lexus cars.

Agree 100%......it would be no different than you asking a friend for their opinion/advise.

'cuz I wanted to know...Its pretty foreign to me to not make my own decisions. I find it odd that people would rely on opinions of strangers to make a decision..

No insult intended. Just curious to understand others though process and decision making

They are not relying on others as their sole source for decision making, they aremerely getting other opinions. Kinda of like checking things out, looking to see if anyone has any betters ideas,or perhaps knows a reason why they shouldnt do something that they were thinking of doing. More heads are better than one.

Well, my wife thinks it is totally ridiculous that a bunch of people are on an internet forum to talk about their cars in the first place, but she's not going to pop on here and create a thread asking why people do it!

It's not that people are sheep or need affirmation. There are a bunch of people here with a common interest - why NOT get their opinion if you are having difficulty making a decision on something where one option doesn't stand head and shoulders above the other options to you?

We ask because not everyone are alike. Though we share some common parts, rims and such it doesnt hurt to ask for their opinion. Someone might give the thumbs up and another may think otherwise. It wouldnt be any much different if you asked a friend or relative the same thing (in person). It just helps us make much easier decisions.

First and foremost, we members of ClubLexus are family.

Just like parents, we offer good advice and tell you what to do and what not to do.
Just like sibs, we sometimes get into fights and make fun of one another.
Just like kids, we have a little bit of fun and enjoy and share the toys we have.

We're not here to ask people what to do. We ask for advice and opinions, and these posts help build a better community.

Perhaps you will help our community by providing more positive posts regarding the joy and enthusiasm we have with our cars. We all need some positive energy in our wild and chaotic world outside of ClubLexus...

In automotive forums i've found that theres 3 types of ppl.
1. Those that really KNOW
2. Those that THINK they know
3. Those that DON'T know (the 16yr olds that want a 1000hp supra as a first car go here too)

When ppl ask questions for w/e reason its usally about gathering information to make an informed decision on something they would like to know more about...most times.

Better to ask if a HUGE cf wing would look good on the back of a IS first rather than doing it and end up looking like some ricer civic...

Could it be for...ummm, maybe a little ADVISE, from those with a similar interest?

Which, of course, can then either be factored into a decision or ignored. You might even consider it learning.

Not all of us are totally informed, know-it-alls.
