Default D-range paddle shifter

Hi guys,

As requested, I post about my 'D-range paddle shifter'.
The D-range paddle shifter can be paddle shifting without shifting into S-mode. I can always use the paddle shifter without the shift lever moving to the S-positon. The mode automatically returns to D-range when both paddles are pulled at the same time or the paddle is not pulled for three minutes.
This equipment is handmade and uses a micro computer. And, This equipment was concepted by a person. But he has left our group, unfortunately...

These are parts for D-range paddle shifter befor put in a box. The cable at the left side is a sensor to detect D-position. I used a photo-reflector.
A board at the center are micro-computer. And the right side one interrupt to the connector that connect to the transmission. I used TOM'S GT-Shifter for this.

At first I installed it in the center panel. BUT ! Because the case was a little large, the cover was not able to be closed.

So, I installed it in the drink holder. However, this was a temporary place. I moved it to the center console box.
Though I used the micro-computer for this, I think it can be made by an easy logic circuit.

D-range paddle shifter is very convenient when a strong engine brake is necessary.
How about this ?

You can check about D-range paddle shifter from my Blog.

That's cool! But the paddle shifter does shift a bit slow compared to the regular shifter though.

good work,

your next project
there should be a mod to totally control the current gear instead of just the "top gear" with the paddles. Combine it with this mod, it would be awesome

Thanks for the writeup mate.

I would really be interested but have no idea how to make the micro computer? I hate how you need to shift to S to use the paddles, and even then all it does is limit the highest gear, as opposed to just shifting to the gear you want regardless of speed.

Actually, I'm going to make a new D-range paddle shifter without using micro computer with using only logical circuit.
In fact, sometimes the current version makes the radar detector malfunction by the computer noise.

If I could make it, I'll update it here.
However, it take a lot of time...

You should sell them... I'd buy one for sure.

In fact I do not have either parking sensors or radar cruise control so I would have no problems with the box you have right now, if you don't need it anymore.
