Tpms????
First post here everyone. So my TPMS light went on today. car was in the garage for 2 days with no driving. when we got in the car today the TPMS (low tire pressure) lights came on and also a Red Triangle. i have 4600 miles and all the tires look just fine. Just wondering if something else can trigger this? maybe i got a nail?? i will be going in for the 5k in a few weeks i figure and wonder how much i should worry or if its worth going to the dealer now or can i wait till i go in for the 5k service.
of course i will pay attn to the tires for any changes.
Thanks everyone!

thanks! one last question. is there a way to determine wich tire is low thru the car???? i was playing with the navi screen and going thru the menus. i dont know why i thought the car did this or why i recall seeing this. i also wonder are the sensors that sensitive? or does it need to be a drastic change to set them off? i had them in my last 2 cars and they never went off. that is why i wondered if i got a nail or something stupid like that. Weather did change so i know that is also a factor for the tire pressure possibly droping. Appreciate your response!
For some reason Lexus decided not to tell us which tire needs more air. So if your alert goes off, you gotta check each tire! You would think they could incorporate something a lil better in a $40,000 luxery auto!

Buds, i got a rip in my rear tire somewhere driving home from dallas to arlington. Discount wouldn't fix it ,so I had to take it to this ghetto shop in a-town. My new wheels get here next week anyways.
passnu2: Just buy a tire gauge and throw it in your glovebox. I check my tire pressure every other fill up. You want 37 in front and 35psi in the rear.

the lexus dealership suggested that i get the extended warranty thru discount tire. cost 100 bucks for all the tires. i believe you can calibrate the tires yourself. ill do i walk-through when i get the time. but i know you can do it yourself.
Yes, just looking at the tires after the light goes on is not enough. You need to put a gauge on each tire, preferably when they are cold. I discovered a slow leak this way in my G35 caused by a pesky nail.
The last two nails I got in tires were unrepairable by Discount Tire standards. If the nail is anywhere close to the shoulder (within about 3/4" to 1") they won't repair it. There are posters and flyers there that explain what the limits are. But I usually find nail punctures tend to occur closer to the edge of the tire than in the middle of the tread.

I just picked it up and got back to the garage before this massive storm hit.
