Warm up time for 2 miles drive
Hi, how long do I need to warm up my car for a 2 miles drive? I gotta take my girl home sometimes and she lives about a mile away from my crib. Or should I just start and go?
Ya I know its good exercise but its around 20-40 degrees over in NY, and I am getting lazy since I got the car. And read other threads saying don't let the car idle to warm up. So just wondering what the experts will say about this topic :P
Are you serious?
If our cars brake from driving two miles and not being completely warmed up I'm selling mine today. Nothing agianst you, but posts like these make me chuckle!

I'm with you there not to knock everyone here but some of the questions asked in the 2IS forum have me rolling guess there's a lot of first time drivers here.
I agree, it's a car drive the darn thing! when I start a car to warm it up I'm not doing it for the car I'm doing it so I don't have to sit in a cold car and look through iced over windows. I've been warming cars up for many years and have never had a problem other than the extra gas you burn.

And didn't mean to poke at you. Congratulations on your purchase.!
new car = 50,000 mile warranty. Do whatever the hell you want to it until 50,000 miles. if something is going to break, it'll do it before then. If it makes it to 50,000 (99.99% chance it will) it should be clear sailing from there.
thats my school of thought, and I'm sticking to it
on a side note...the reason the 4.0 inline 6 that the jeeps have lasts so long is that the engine cranks for an extra 3-4 seconds before the car starts so that it can build up a little oil pressure before firing. So technically, if you let your car warm up for 3-4 seconds and take it easy for 5 minutes...you're golden. But new age oils and seals should take care of any warmup issues.
