Default Audio question

Hey guys im planning on buying an IS350 later on this year, maybe in December (gotta save up ) and i wanted to know if you can connect subs if you get the nav/ML package. I want the nav/ML but i just want to add more bass, I have 2 12" mb Quart subs at home and a 1200 watt infinity mono amp, would there be any problems connecting this to the system? I dont want to put in an aftermarket HU, but would there be anything else i need to buy to connect these? thx in advance for any help/suggestions.

I'v already looked through the search a couple times, and i found many threads on being able to do this with the non ML setup, but havn't seen any of ppl doing it with the ML setup, unless they installed an aftermarket HU. i jus want to know if its possible to install an amp and subs and have them work flawlessly with the stock HU and the ML setup, and if i would need to purchase additional parts to do so. Thx again.

The installation process of just an amp and subs is the same with both ML and non-ML systems. You will need an in-expensive LOC (line output convertor) in addition to your current equipment.

yes it will work. the wires are actually the same. light blue, pink, brown and light green i believe. orange is your remote turn on wire. the wires can be found underneath the plastic piece in the trunk on the passenger side of the car.

cool, thx guys, but cmusic i want to ask you one more question. I read in another thread of yours that you advised removing the stock sub in order to install subs in the trunk, is it necessary? is there a way to leave the factory sub in, and use it along with the aftermarket subs?

You could leave the stock sub in, but the air pressure from the aftermarket subs will probably cause the factory sub to flap and distort. The factory sub uses the airspace in the trunk as its enclosure. The back of the sub is open to the trunk air space. With two 12" subs firing into the trunk, the air pressure will definitely cause the factory sub's cone to move more than intended. This could lead to cancelled frequencies, distortion, and at the extreme a blown factory sub.
