Default Sold/Traded an S2000 for an IS? Missing it?

So I made the post a while back that I sold my S2000 for my IS350.

While I really like the IS350, performance, luxury, etc...

I've been having buyers remorse somewhat, because I am already going to miss having the vert. top in the summer. Plus the tossability factor of the S can't be beat. The steering in the IS is just not as connected and feels a bit too electronic(its not bad by any means), but the S was just right.

I'm missing my old setup and kind of wishing I had just kept my S2000 and LS400.

Any other ex owners feel the same? I know there are quite a few of us on the board.

I miss the speed of my Gs400. But I love my IS, the interior, the styling, basically everything except the speed factor. But i don't need to speed ne more my insurance is $5400 a year. I used to drive to work going 130mph on a regular basis.

With the IS being a totally different car, I'd miss it to. I went from S2000 to BMW though. While the IS is great car (gf just bought one), the BMW appealed to me more due to it's more sports oriented nature. With the BMW, I will miss the S2000, albeit hopefully not as much.

Sorry to say, but what you did was a bad trade-off as these two cars are not even in the same class. It's just a bad comparison to make.

Unless you were completely past your "sports" car phase then you shouldn't have given up the S2000. As sporty as the Lexus IS is, it's just no match for cars considered to be in the "sports or sport coupe" categories in the look and feel department.

Yea I was thinking the same. I was actually going to get into an M3 convertible, but reliability ended up scaring me away. Now the new 335 convertible..... just don't want to pay the arm and a leg they are charging for the thing. Especially not brand spanking new when they are selling for sticker+

Yes, I still miss my S2000. I do miss taking the top down and rolling around town. But life happens and you get a job that requires a 2 hour bumper to bumper rush hour drive which in the S2000 results in worn knee from pressing the clutch 15 billion times a day.

I would love to have the S in the garage for the weekend. But I would not go back for my daily life today. I've told my wife a few times that I would like to buy a 2002 S2000 for the garage.

But I honestly love the IS350 for my life now. Haul the kids around, drive rush hour traffic and yet be able to punch the hell out of it when hitting a good freeway on ramp. The thing is so damn luxurious in a sportly way. You are backed by 300 hp that runs you in a quarter at 13.5 seconds but yet you have so many damn toys in it that you feel like captain Kurk in the captains chair on the Enterprise.

I wouldn’t roll any other way.

i'm really hoping that my good luck in car choices keeps on going...besides the crappy CRx and Civics that i had as when i was a teen, i went from a '97 3000GT to an '04 RX-8 to an '06 350Z Enthusiast and each car was exponentially better than the last...i had and still have much love for the 350Z but i've found myself needing rear seats far too often and being SOL...i'm trading it in this weekend for an IS350 and hoping i'm making the right decision...i hope i don't do one of these afterwards...

Can you get away for a weekend or more for European Delivery? If you can, you instantly are getting $2000+ UNDER U.S. invoice, which is at least $5000 less than MSRP. I don't have the exact numbers on the vert yet but the Coupe European Invoice price is about $3200 cheaper than the U.S. invoice. $2900 for the car, + no Maco and training fees. Not to mention less sales tax.

Like Ys2k, I too could not stand the S2000 for my primary car. I have an Integra too, but I wanted a nice car first and a toy car second. Too bad my budget doesn't allow a $40k + car with a S2000.

Yea I feel very similar to this. And who knows, maybe when the IS convertible comes out, all this will go away.... But yea dropping the top on a nice warm summer day will really be missed. But the speed power and luxury of the IS350 do help to ease the "pain."

I do miss my '02 S2000 and the vert top. I dropped it and had 18's and the thing handled like it was on rails. It is, in my opinion, more fun to drive than my IS350. Both the S2K and the IS350 are not my daily drivers, so I didn't have to worry about sitting in traffic with the manual tranny. Still, with Nav, heated cooled seats, more hp, 4 doors, bluetooth, and smartkey, I love my IS and I am finding that I do drive it more than I drove the S2000.

The IS350 is certainly a more mature car. It is fun to drive for a 4dr. If you want some sun, open the sunroof. Now, if you got an IS250, then it would be a downgrade in performance. Sorry 250 guys.

S2000 is either a mid-life crisis or young rice racer car.
