hold the display button down when it's on the avg mpg screen.

That also works for the 'avg mph' (speed).

i believe the average speed resets every time you start your car. as for any other setting, yes...just hold down the mode button for 5 seconds or so

did your dealer give you a rundown before you took the car off the lot?

mine was with me for an hour, maybe a little more showing me all the little bells and whistles, how to use and sync the bluetooth, input addresses, set tach and speen indicators, and most everything else. Honestly, i just wanted him to shut up so i could drive it...but in the end, i'm glad i got the rundown.

I know it neeeeeeeeever happens on forums, so let me clear up that this is not an "i cant believe your dealer didnt do this for you, your dealer is scum" response, i was just wondering if my dealer did this for me because i was a friend of a friend, or if it was a normal lexus policy

Mine did the same (stardard practice here). It's just difficult to remember
how to use some of the features if you have not done so yourself since
you bought the car. A loaded IS has a LOT of bells and whistles

When I bought my car they gave me a little book. It had all kinds of good things in it about my car that I never knew. I figured since I spent 43,000 on the car I should read it. I'm trying to remember what that book was called. I thing it started with the letter "M" and ended with "L". I can't remember. Oh well, does anyone know how to open the sunroof?

Seeing I didnt get the ML system, I cant watch a DVD while waiting for someone...so I usually enjoy the manual for some light reading.

Only a few weeks into it, and I always pick up something i didnt know before!

Little?!? The freaking thing is as thick as War and Peace!

It's chock full of good info, but I think I can excuse folks for not reading it cover-to-cover while they're intoxicated with new car smell and are anxious to take their new baby out on the open road.

I pulled mine out after I'd owned the car about six months, and was amazed at how many cool things I'd missed the first time around.

It is supposedly Lexus policy they rate dealers on this it's called the Delivery Quality Assessment and Lexus asks this in it's survey when after you get the car. All the bells and whistles of the car are supposed to be fully explained.

Mine didn't really explain much, she was nice enough tho and I wanted to drive the car anyway. One thing that definitely did **** me off was that my maintenance items were not put in nor the dealer contact info. I tell ya these dealers need to really re-learn how to sell and remember that they are supposed to be providing more than a marble bathroom and cappuccinos.

Edited to add: This is new information to me [the resetting], so thank you for sharing.
