Default chrome door handle installation

Hey I'm thinking of getting these for my upcoming IS350

http://l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=2089

Anyone know how these are installed? Does it just cap the regular handle and is stuck there w/ some kind of tape? Can anyone vouch for the quality of these handles?

Thanks in advance!

i'm not sure, but i would think that you pop off the old door handle pieces. you know how you pop it off with the key to get to the keyhole? just pop off the old ones and put the new ones on.

I believe the IS and ES share the same door handles, and the ES have chrome ones available.

If you want, you can check if your dealer change order and install them for you, which can get pricey...

Install won't be cheap. You have to pretty much take the door apart for this as the handles are held on by nuts inside the door frame. There is no snap on/snap off. It is not a quick and easy install, and if I were guessing the flat rate on it, I'd expect at least .75 hr for each.

The part calls out "Japan made set of (4) chrome door handles Covers". I wouldn't think there's any disassembling of the door handle required for a cover. The part would be more like $229 per handle if the handle itself was replaced. Call to confirm first.

I have seen this on some of the new SR5 Tacoma's. It looks nice, but I don't know how the adhesive would hold up in time.

I wouldn't have the dealer install this, I am sure it's easy, if you go for it...

Actually for the ES, the rear door handles has the lock button where the IS does not. So this may rule out the Es to IS swap for the rear doors.

These on my site are just covers you stick on the outside. There is no removal of anything on the handle. It has tape on the back of each cover.
