I would go for it. Not too many dealers abuse their demos because the person that drives them has to pay the deductible if they crash it (min $2500). Me and a lot of other managers have demos and we treat them as if they were our cars or some people take even better care of them. Plus you still have full factory warranty, so you don't have to worry about paying for the repairs if something breaks.

OK 848 miles. Not 2500, 3500 miles. I would not have called him a Liar. Business wise, you say there must be some confusion or misunderstanding.

Do you think you can get a new one at that price ?

Forget it. My sister in-law's boyfriend is the Finance Mgr for a Chrysler/Jeep dealership here in the Chicago area. He takes a new Grand Cherokee, beats the crap out of it for 2,000 miles and then they sell it as an "1 driver - executive driven" for still more money than a person who has done their pricing homework can get a new one for.

yeah the sales person took me for a test drive in a 350 and for some reason he kept on telling me that it was Lexus' fastest car right now..... after the 5th time i finally broke and asked him... "So are you asking me to step on it? Because i could..." he laughed and said "No" but i'm pretty sure he has done that to alot of people and they all at that point just stepped on it.

Well I still have not heard anything. I am not sure if they are even open today but if they are, I am guessing the deal is done.

I have a few more thoughts that I may try so we will see. I will keep you all posted and I appreciate the comments and advice.

I'll bet someone jumped all over that deal and they it sold. Most likely got a little more discount or the wheels. If you were selling Your car would you not take the highest $ offer ?

You guy's are tripping about these " I know someone that works at a dealership that drives a demo stories ". Only 2 qualified here to testify about demo's are telling you when you have a Luxury car demo you treat it better than your own. I drive demo's also.

There is always one in every crowd. Someone who immaturely abuses company property, and another one who does not realize how to Buy a car. Must be why Chrysler is in so much trouble now.

Shiba this deal is simple. If you can beat that price on a new one, buy it. If you can't then he gave you the best price on one. When you questioned his cost, did you include dealer prep, dest/freight delivery charge and all cost ? Don't seem like he's dying to sell you that car.

If you can afford a new one why not just go that route? It sounds like a good deal to me though

Yes I did... he was still almost $3,000 over cost with all variables considered. I have no information on other incentives and holdbacks so I can not even take those into consideration.

I have contacted a few others dealers and will see what they can do for me and then make a decision on this. Maybe I will hear back from them in the meantime.

I don't think it's a very good deal. I am about 99% sure you can get a Brand New one for less than that. I just picked mine up 2 weeks ago.
2007 SGM w/Cashmere
Luxury Package, NAV + ML DVD, 18's preferred pack.

Sounds like the only difference between our cars would be the Park Assist (which I have heard is not too nice anyway) and the rear spoiler. Oh and 840 Miles along with the piece of mind knowing you car has never been ragged out. Mine was MSRP $44,800. I got them down to $39,999 before it was all said and done. I see you are in florida. If you are anywhere near Tampa you should talk to Victoria at Lexus of Tampa Bay. She did a great job with me and plus she is kinda new, and kinda pretty

Thanks for the information... I am only a few hours from there. We acutally may be heading out there soon to buy another Akita.

I will give them a ring and see what they have in stock.

I recently test drove an is350 at my local dealer. They put me in a demo car(which I didnt know at first) that had about 500 miles on it. After driving out the dealership I said to myself this car feels like crap, with rattles and such. Boy did I test its full potential. I was sold right then.
Went back to the dealer and told the salesman, lets talk numbers, not on that one but a new one which they dont have. He said why not that one? I said, that one feels like its falling apart. He chuckles and said its only a demo. So I guess I wasnt the only one that worked those ponies on that demo car.

My bro just bought a new gs350 at invoice in Clearwater Lexus. Its nice to live in an area where there are other dealers nearby. I live in the boonie state where theres only 1 Lexus dealer in the whole entire state. They only knock off $2k for my is350. As they know consumers here have very limited resources and will have to pay the price or travel 5 hours for the next Lexus dealer.

If you're planning on keeping it for a while, tell them you want an extended bumper to bumper warranty, in case the proper break-in period was not followed, as we're mostly sure it wasn't. Otherwise, yeah, get more cash off, or just hold out for a new one.

The original dealer came back today and is willing to do $40,500 and this includes installing the XM Radio as well. This is without the ISP's though because I don't think I want them. They did put brand new tires on it though even thought the old ones only had 800 miles on them.

The car is not at the dealership as of yet... it is coming from the Southeast Regional Office in Atlanta where an exectuive actually used it... it is NOT coming from a dealer so this makes me feel a little better.

What do you all think about the deal now?

I got the same car without PA and XM and 10 miles on it for $40,200. Still, it's your deal.
