What did you used to connect the stock deck to the amp? JL Cleansweep or Alpine, or Rockford etc.? Please post pictures of that. What size id the enclosure for the sub?

I just wanted to add that I paid Bing (the installer) a visit and the guy really knows his car stereo installs! I highly recommend him if you want a classy job. Congrats on another awesome install, Bing!

You said three way DLS, did you put the tweeters in the kicks or in the doors? It appears that you have some tweeters in the doors. How do you like the sound of the DLS speakers? We did some in a customer's G35, I thought they were decent but I don't think they were supplied with enough power for their true potential.
The dls tweeter is down in the kicks along with the midrange, the door midrange you see is the stock midrange which just there but not hooked up

I myself am a big fan of DLS, but i may be biased since i am a dealer and also a rep for DLS...but i try to be honest and use equipment that i myself would use in my own car (whcih is hte case here with DLS) like some othe rhigh end european speakres, such as morel or dyn, the DLS ultimate line really shines with more power (3" voice coil on the midbasses)...depending on whcih set you used, more power would definetly help with the dynamics.

THis IS for example, is getting about 250 watts RMS per side upfront

by the way, if you guys are interested in becoming a DLS dealer, let me know just send me over a PM

believe it or not, you dont need a equalizing device to get good sound out of the IS's stock HU.

after talking to mr Chuck Music (C Music on the board), who had extensively research his stock system, i realized that only a summing device is needed to get hte a good signal.

It appears that the signal coming out of the stock system, when the ASL is turned off, is fairly flat, withonly a minor dip in the upper midbass freq. to reduce "midbass boom", and a bit of a small dip in the midrage/highs transition, both dips IMO arent exactly bad, and i often infactuse similar tuning techniques to reduce any unwanted midbass boom and midrange harshness

so in the end, i used a audiocontrol LC8 to sum the signals and thats it this is the second IS i have done with the LC8, and i have no doubt i will continue to use it for furthre IS installs

What do you think the cars would do if entered in IASCA SQ challenge.

dpends on if it goes to a regional eventer, double or tripple pointer, or world finals lol

in the lower classes, it should do okay , i would say imaging, staging, midbass points should all be up there, with an eq the rest of hte sound spectrum should score well...

overall, i think it would hold up again against similar installed and budget cars...whcih means midpack to upper pack finish in the regional events

but again, that is purely just guestimation base don my own competing experience

Bing, great work as usual! I actually had something like this in mind before we met....but then started thinking trunk space....misc. baby stuff, bags, etc. How far from the seatback does the box extend? What are the specifics on power being fed to front stage and the sub? Anything for rear fill, and if so what's powering those?

Craig - shoot me a pm and let me know if you're up for a comparison.

I thought that the stock speakers location sounds good. With a good EQ, it will do very well. Kick panels are not my thing because they sometimes get in the way of my dumb passengers.

Can you give more details on the connections between the stock amp and the Audio Control? Pictures will be nice. How are the speakers wired?
I am in the process of doing mine. Dynamat the entire car first. Maybe a McIntosh amp and PPI 30 band EQ. I have a Rane RTA to fine tune the system. What do you think?

to me the stock location isnt so graet, the tweeter location especially, to me is horrible...te midrange location also is not so great for imagine and staging...

i guess i have just been so used to the sound quality competition type of staging and imaging that i cant tolerate sound all pulled to one side like the stock location will get... i prefer to have the singer dead middle of the dash, with the instruments correctly placed to the sides

kicks are never an issue interms of passengers killing them, i have built over 100 pairs, and never have one set been destroyed they are built out of fiberglass, i can usually stand my entire body (200lbs) on a single kick panel and it wont come close to cracking its what i would consider indestructable...certainly more indestructable than say...a stock plastic interior piece

your set up seem good, i think you will do great tonally, but if you competed, imaging you wont do so great with stock locations...
