Default My quick custom trunk

I said quick because I built all the panels in a few hours. I'm gonna redo it maybe when spring comes around. Just got too much going on at the moment but needed bass right now.

Not bad for a quick job, but being in the business myself I don't EVER want to go back and "redo".

Do it right the first time is the motto I try to stick to for my work.

What subs are those? Any specs on the enclosure?

I know, and I usually don't do something to have to go back and do it again but I miscalculated some minor things that really bothers me so I just finished it the way it is. Good thing I don't do this for a living or I'd have some pissed off customers...JK!
I've been bass-less for so long that I needed to get something in there. The amp rack didn't come out as planned so I'm going to be making another one when spring comes around or if we have a warm winter then maybe even sooner (I've deadened my SUV in 30 degree weather!).
The subs are Obsidian Audio OA12's dual 2 ohms each wired to .5 on my Crescendo Audio 3kwp. Here are a few links for you guys:
Build log:

Obsidian Audio:

mkorsu, My enclosure is 13hx30.5wx24d. Port is 11.5hx2.5wx17d. It's 3.53 cubes tuned to 32hz after all displacement.

That site is almost a clone of http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/

It's nice to see someone using equipment that isn't from one of the big manufacturers. Obsidian and Cresendo is an awesome combination.

I know but caraudioclassifieds have been going down the toilet since Ant bought it . That guy's money hungry and even making people pay to join the forum now. I'm only there when I want to buy/sell something because obviously there's more traffic there.
I'm also not a big fan of mainstream so yeah, I'd rather support those who can pay special attention to their customers. Manufacturers like Kicker and JL makes awesome products but for one, they're overpriced. There are other guys out there making comparable products for less. Secondly, I like being different. When you demo your system for some kids who thinks RF owns all and they get blown away, the look on their face is priceless. Obsidian is going to rise because you already know who the designers are. Crescendo have also been steady climbing.

I've noticed a change at CACO as well. I still hang out there because of PSI / FMS. David is local and a great guy. I try to help out in his forum when I can.

I would have gone with Cresendo component speakers in my ES-350 except they had discontinued the current model and the new model wasn't available. I went with Phoenix Gold instead.

Same screen name over there?

I think PSI has a great thing going for him/them. I see more and more people using his stuff. PG isn't bad at all. I'm assuming RSD's?

Yes, same screen name there and a dozen more forums.

You are correct about PSI. Extremely low overhead because his is in the middle of nowhere. But he is still close enough to Memphis that he can pick up pallet loads of motors from any shipping company. I've posted a few pics here of my PSI / Konaki "frankensub". You can describe what you want and David will build a custom sub for your application. Same way with the Konaki motor. I wanted a small box sub and that motor is is extremely powerful. He also hit my requested Qtc number.

Yes, the RSDs. I picked up a gently used pair from CACO. Other then some hot glue on the back of the tweeter, which I removed, there was no sign of wear.

Yeah, David does a great job for those who want a custom sub/recone. He's very specific about what you want it to do and such. Those RSD's are good but alot of people including myself has had problems where one mid goes out and then the other mid and tweeters start to go bad so just a warning. The Konaki motor is also a VERY capable motor. I should have bought four of them back in 2007ish before anyone really knew what they could do. They sold for $180 shipped ech, IIRC. Anyways, here is a video of some flex I took earlier. Enjoy!

I never understood "flex videos" until the guy that helped me with my install demoed his system. It was brutal and now I understand. You can check out his other videos for flex. I helped build his box for the TC-3000. One of the best videos is of a franken-sub. It has a one-off frame (never seen another one like it), TC Sounds TC-7 motor, TC Sounds TC-2000 coil & spider pack and a Sundown surplus cone and dust cap. This thing had a ton of copper in the motor which brought the inductance down very low. It sounded great.

Here's the thread on my install - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...-a-2007-a.html Everyone has been waiting on an install kit and I finally noticed one on Ebay. I was the 4th or 5th person to buy on. I'm the first to post pictures of the install. Page 3 has the video taken by my helper.

^^^You're right. I have never seen another frame like that one before either. You got a nice little setup there too.
