My monthly payments are $650.03 per month. Down payment was $4500. The final OTD price after down payment was about $39,500. Residual value at the end of my 4 year lease (15k miles/yr) is approximately $20k.

I got HIDs, 18" wheels, NAV, Premium Package, trunk mat + floor mats.

Leased 06 IS350. $652/month 12k/36month lease. No money down.
Price 41,000. Sport/Nav/ML package. The 06 sport package includes the suspension upgrades, wheels, HIDs, rear spoiler. Said they'ii throw in satellite radio - 6 months and still waiting, I'm gonn give them hell on my first 5k oil service. Yeah, the lease prices are high for lexus. For the same $650 per month you can get into the BMW335i but I'm planning to keep the car afterwards. Lease a BMW, buy a Lexus

So? You don't mention how much money you put down, or how long you financed for. If you put down $10k on a 60 month term and plan on trading after four years, he's still doing better than you.

I put down $2k on my lease, payments are low $600s. IS350, nav/ml, lux.

Why didn't you just finance the car if you intend to keep it long term? I trade every three years and drive low miles, so leasing makes sense to me. If you keep a car for a longer period of time, I don't understand why you would lease and then finance the remaining owed at lease end...you're going to have payments for a long time.

That means absolutely nothing. You could be financing your car for up to seven years..and paying 10k+ in Finance charges on only a 6 yr term plus ALL the sales tax up front. Lease you only pay tax on what you actually pay. Of course unless you put alot of money down. You don't even know what you're comparing.

Oh, and I feel you should LEASE things that DEPRECIATE, BUY things that APPRECIATE. Just makes more sense.

Let's say you DO keep your cars for 5yrs..STILL lease, just do a long term one. So at the end of five years you can say, well I could've paid 750 mo for this 41k car + tax 0 money down at 6.50% for 72 mos or save 100 or more dollars a month and drove the same car for the same amount of time. Oh, but you'll have equity though right?? Well w/6000.00 diff in payments for the 5yrs and another 9k to go for another year, that's 15k. = same for the RESIDUAL. So I say save your money and LEASE!!

i understand exactly whereyou're coming from. I never liked leasing cars, I like to own my cars. However,I've started a business recently and can use the lease as a tax shelter - accountant said about 60% should be tax deductible. Then in about 3 years time, should be buying a house and/or getting married then I can have other means of tax deduction. Who knows, in 3 years I may lease another car and decide not to buy this one. Maybe the next gen IS with 400+hp and getting 40+mpg!
