Default 5000 miles

I'm wanting to skip this is do it myself. I really dont' have the time to drop my car off during the weekday nor do i want to waste my weekend time dropping a car off and waiting. How long does it take and is it necessary?

Anyone did their own 5000 miles?

If you have the time and inclination to change your own oil, I'm sure you can do it yourself. However, the first 5k service is free, and it provides an opportunity for your car to get checked out, get personalized settings adjusted if you want to, etc. I'd take advantage of it - many Lexus dealers have evening hours.

You might also want to ask your dealer about their policy on loaner cars. My dealer didn't volunteer to give me a loaner for my 5,000 mile service, but did provide one when I asked.

spending a few minutes at a lexus dealership is a good thing, no? or maybe you were perfer to be a "stranger" to them? simply buying the car and paying money for it won't get you the lexus royal treatment...or maybe it will.

Roy says "OMG, that's a sweet IS500, can I get that for a loaner while you're doing my warranty repair?" Lexus service manager says "Sorry [what's your name again?] we have the ES300 for you, Ken already "phoned ahead" {wink wink} for the last IS500 loaner...."

Why let a "free" thing go?

i'm gettin to like this board more.. ... hahaha

anyhow i'm aware that it's free... i guess i'll have to ask and call in for a loaner and all that. I have time to drop it off but i can't wait for more than an 30 mins.

My Lexus dealership said they don't do loaners for service under 2 hours.

I told them I live in another state and don't want to have to hang out at the dealership! If they don't have a car for me I am going to be highly annoyed!! As that was my salesperson's MAJOR selling point. "If you bring your car in and schedule it.. we can get you a loaner! It's not a KIA but a Lexus!"

That is why I made the appointment early (08:00), so I could drop my car off, get the loaner run all my errands then come pick my car up!

And then I was informed they have a *busser* I guess that is some guy that drops you off at your destination?
