I hope it works.
I plan to add this Panasonic DVD Changer.
http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs...00000000005702
It comes with a Remote and Remote IR Eye that can be routed to the trunk.
Fits Almost Anywhere
The CX-DH801U is extremely compact and will fit in many glove compartments or even under a seat, so you're not limited to using the trunk for installation as is the case with some less-compact CD changers. Installation is further simplified since you can mount it upright, horizontally, or at three more selectable angles.
Reads Single and Dual Layer DVDs
The laser pickup in this DVD/CD Changer adjusts its elevation to accurately read single layer and dual layer type discs.
96kHz/24-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter for High-Precision Sound
The CX-DH801U boasts a high-precision 96kHz/24-bit D/A converter. According to digital audio theory, high frequency reproduction is limited to half the sampling frequency used for recording. Therefore, the frequency response of linear PCM audio in some DVD Videos can potentially extend all the way up to 48kHz (half of 96kHz). While humans cannot hear sounds above 20kHz, very high frequency overtones may influence how we hear the details in audible sounds, such as the crash of cymbals.
Anti-Shock Floating Mechanism for Less Skipping
Thanks to this DVD/CD changer's floating suspension, there's no need to worry about annoying disc skipping. The critical laser pickup and disc loading mechanism is isolated in a floating suspension, with two suspension coils and four rubber-plus-silicone dampers helping to absorb external vibrations.
Skip Over Empty Slots with Learning Skip
No more unnecessary pauses when you've got empty disc trays. Instead of trying to access a non-existent disc, this CD changer learns which slots are empty and will automatically skip over them, accessing only the CDs that are actually loaded.
Hours of Uninterrupted Movies and Music
This CD changer lets you load up to 8 DVDs and/or CDs so you can enjoy hours of uninterrupted movies and/or music.
Please keep us updated.... If it works... Would you help me buy one? Please??

the cable plugged right in to the rear of the navi. i wasnt able to install the car dvd player so i plugged in an actual DVD player from my TV at home. it didnt detect anything though. i tried the mode button but it only switched through what was already there. so as of now, it doesnt work.
if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

According to my understanding of the diagram for J52, only three of the pins are used. Pin 1 takes the video signal. Pin 4 takes the video signal ground and pin 5 is the car's electrical ground. The cable you purchased also included audio cables. However, it looks like the J52 does not take audio input. You probably need to find a way to send audio to the audio headunit instead.
My recommendation is to inspect the cable you purchased. Verify that the wire that connects to Pin 1 on J52, is connected to the center slot of the yellow female RCA plug. Check that Pin 4 connects to the shielding part of the yellow female RCA plug. Seems like Pin 5 should be connected directly to a ground on your car's electrical system. The audio head unit chassis should work.
This is how I interpret the diagram. I have not tinkered with this or any other car video system, so you must be careful in taking my advice.
Anyone else have any ideas based on the diagram of J52?
Also you must consider that there may be some other input on one of the other plugs that signals which video source to select and display. If you can't find out how to trigger this switch, then you may have to target the video input that the nav system uses to send its signal to the display. In this case you could wire a manual switch to toggle between the nav input and your custom source (your external DVD player).
