Purchase Decision HELP!
I am thinking to purchase 2006 Lexus IS 350. My major concern is, how will it handle in snow?? The sales person says because of "VDIM", it will handle fine in snow. I wanted to hear from previous owners with IS 350 RWD (why doesn't lexus make IS 350 AWD?) who had a chance to drive IS350 in the snow and how it handles. Does VDIM really work well in the snow? I travel approximately 60 miles to work and I need to know how it handles in the snow.

You will need to buy a set of winter tires (all-season tires will do in a pinch). Stability and traction control (VDIM) are helpful, but they can't overcome the laws of physics if you foolishly try to drive on your summer tires. Other than a snow over freezing rain storm at the beginning of the season (where the car got me home without getting stuck, but felt squirrelly), my car with snows did fine last winter.

I had rwd car before (BMW z3) and believe me if you are going to drive the vehicle when it snows, you will want to install snow tires. It is the best investment in terms of safety.
You car have 300HP rwd car, on the slush the tires will have difficulties to grip. You will just spinning your tires.
