I found out that they changed the damn exits signs on a good portion of I-15 and from the dealer that the new version of the Nav still had not been updated. Screw-em....damn near 450 buck for bogus crap, I'll stay with what I have for now.
in case you didn't know, the nav disc is not 100% perfect. so tell me why i would think the disc is crap because of a few exits that are wrong in utah lol.

Who even said that area will be updated in the v6 disc? Lexus usually publishes a change list for each update. So basically, don't buy unless there's an area that affects you.

YES. There are a lot of problems with the '06 version. But the ability to push a few spots and program while in motion are more valuable.

What problems are there with the V5.1 (2006) version?

I live in the SF Bay Area, not "Hicksville, N.D." There are two routes I take a lot, and Nav. would rather send me 15-35 miles out of the way on one of them. The other refuses to use the major freeway. All routes have been there for 20+ years. Somehow I doubt that these are the only anomalies the US.

Then you're not using the nav properly.

(1) you can set roads to avoid (like El Camino), and (2) set the freeway speed to 75mph and side streets to 25mph in the prefs. This will virtually guarantee major roads are used over side streets.

x986: TimboIS is right... I lived in the Bay Area for many years and in my Acura's NAV I'd have to tell it to avoid el camino and sometimes 280, when 101 was the obvious choice... It was a bit annoying, but if you make those changes, it will work fine...

Honestly, in major areas, where the roads have not changed much in many years, even nav discs that are 4-5 years old work just fine IMHO... So the "newer" discs are really only a benefit if your area has specifically been updated. Guidance preferences are rarely changed (if at all) in newer discs.

so have we cleared up the "there's a problem with the old nav disc, hopefully the new nav disc will clear up those problems"? anybody else who knows how to actually use the nav having real problems?

i'm considering getting the new disc but would rather hold off if there are still bugs, i'm just asking.
