Don't they cost money? Just ask the dealer to take it off or grab a different one. Might be a harder if it was painted on. Gluck.

If it's a vinyl pin stripe, then you can carefully take a razor blade to pull up the end, then peel off. If it's painted on there, then...

I really doubt the Lexus came like that from the factory. Only conclusion is that it was placed on after, which leads me to assume that it was just a vinyl stripe placed over the paint. Sometimes when it comes from factory it will be either painted on or applied prior to spray the car with clear. But in this case I'm sure its just placed over the paint.

Peel a small amount of the end off and peel it off. Hit the residue with goo gone and a little scratchX.

Its just a cash grab for the dealer. I can deal with pin stripes on Cadillacs, Jags, and ES/LS Lexus because I see them as for older people. Granted I don't like how they look on any car, but oh well. I don't know why people put them on.

That method in the above thread should work well.

That's what mine tried!

Dealer: So... your total, with the pinstripes is $$$$$

Me: WTF?

Dealer: Well sir, with the addition of the pinstripes the price goes up by $600 dollars.

Me: Tell you what, if the car comes with the pinstripes, I'm not taking it.

Dealer: Ummm OK... we'll throw them in for freee!

Me: No... you don't get it. I'm not buying a car with pinstripes. End of story, now I want it written that you're removing them free of charge.

Just to give you an idea of the difference:

Sewell in Ft. Worth charged me 395 for "pin-striping and tint". Different strokes for different folks, I reckon, because I love the look of the pin-stripe. In fact, before it was pin-striped, and the chrome wheels were added, I thought the car looked very "plain" - i.e. I was not impressed! Afterward, I loved it. (But, I'm "old people".)

Saleslady said they were 1788, but charged me 1288. Basically, giving me 500 for the stock wheels, I reckon.
