Thumbs up Lexus One-Pay Maintenance Discount Program

I remember I posted this before a long time ago and someone asked about it recently and I didn't have the info....but I found it.

So here it is, I paid for all of my service in advance to the local lecus dealership, so now when I go in for scheduled maintenance, there is no additional charge.

Here are the costs that I was quoted:

5k $0
10k $144
15k $328
20k $144
25k $144
30k $442
35k $144
40k $144
45k $368
Total (incl tax): $1,945

I paid $1,109 (no tax) which amounts to a discount of $836 (43%).

I'm going in for my 10k service next Friday so I'll see how it works. I took this deal because I am 100% positive that I would visit my dealership and this particular dealership ONLY for each and every scheduled maintenance, no exceptions. I paid for it in my loan but my loan is now paid off so I paid very little interest.

This deal is not for everyone, I understand. But for those who have heartburn over scheduled maintenance fees and would prefer a "smooth" financial situation and perhaps have a few dollars to spend, this plan or a similar one might help if you can get it. It only works at YOUR dealership and I believe it is refundable if you don't use it all up.

To me it's pretty sweet to drive a vehicle where all your scheduled maintenance is already taken care of for practically the entire time you intend to keep the vehicle (for me, 2-3 more years).

Thats a really cool idea. Do you know if every Lexus dealership does this? Or did you just negotiate this with the dealer?

Waayyy over priced for just oil change. Kensteele, you know that other things/maintenance are not covered in that program. For example, brakes, tires, belts, and other types of fluids (we also don't need tire rotation service since our wheels are staggered). That would only come down to a $50.00 oil change service per visit until we need a minor/major tuneup.

Is the 15, 30 and 45k maintenace, the ones I shouldn't miss if I still want my car under warrantee? I'm guessing the other ones in between are just for oil changes. I'm planning to do all the oil changes myself and only bring it in for the major shedule services so they don't have an excuse to void my warrantee if anything ever happens.

^^^^^ I was thinking the same thing, but after i added the 15k, 30k, and 45k check ups, kensteele is still getting a better deal. It's like he's getting free oil changes and service from the dealer at the same price you would have paid for your 15k,30k,45k checks.

15k $328
30k $442
45k $368
Total: $1138
And this total doesn't include the cost of oil, filters, and other fluids the dealer would normally replace for you during your regular oil changes.
PLUS, your Carfax report will show a long list of scheduled dealer maintenance when you resell your car. Buyers love this.
Great deal, kensteele. Gratz

you might want to check the prices of those 15k interval checks and what they include. I was told I needed to do it and it included a lot of stuff that most of our cars can't even do, like rotate tires and change tranny fluid (ours are sealed).

So you end up paying 328 bux for an oil change, diff oil change, parking brake adjust, tire balance, fluid top offs, and new air filter. The rest of what they perform are just inspections.

After I told him all the stuff he couldn't do, they dropped it to 289, but I still think that is a little high.

And who in the hell pays $144 for an oil change????

My dealership charges $90 for an oil change. They also do not offer this program, it appears to be a dealer specific program.

Cool

I prepaid too. I think mine was about $850-$900 if I remember correctly. Still haven't read through the whole package they mailed out as I haven't gone for the free 5k yet. This program will start with the 10K service. There are some other incentives that come with this program as well. One is I think a $1,500 credit if you buy your next car from the dealership.

Ken, that deal basically drops the cost of the Lexus dealership to a local shop for maintenance. So, it's a good deal since you can have your car "dealer serviced" with all records for the same price as going to a no-name shop. I think it's a very smart move for anyone who does not want to do maintenance themselves and trusts their local dealership.

The carfax thing is a little bit more tricky though. Not every dealership reports to carfax, and the ones that do don't always report it each time you bring your car in. Carfax is pretty random about the stuff that shows up, unfortuntely... But you are right, if you have lots of dealer services on a carfax, buyers love it!

Thanks for the info. It's worth checking into. They gotta figure it's more money for them to do this and get the cash up front. If they don't they stand the chance of loosing service to the other mechanics. Not a bad deal perhaps. Unless of course you like to do everything yourself.

This is for Lexus of Thousand Oaks, CA. Any other SoCal owners want to comment on how much they are paying for their oil change?

An oil change is flat-rate 0.4 hrs. If you know what the shop hourly rate is, you can easily figure out what they are charging you for oil, filter, and the service writer's time to complete the RO.
