Question Pricing discrepancy on the Nav and ML systems ....

Don't know if this has been discussed before (at least I couldn't find any reference to it).

1) You can get a package with NAV and ML system for a package price of $3,990.

2) You can get the NAV separately for $2,550, and the ML upgrade for $940, for a total of $3,490.

So why is the package priced $500 more?? Is there something else included in the higher package price that isn't spelled out??

Check out the Price/Options page on the Lexus.com site.

Well one thing I know for sure is that if you buy them separately, your ML system will not support DVD playback. So you won't be able to play DVD movies or DVD audio. Is that worth the extra $500? I don't know... but I think it's difficult to purchase them as separate factory options instead of the package unless you special order. So it's sort of a moot point anyways. There might be other advantages to the package that I don't know about, though.

I noticed that a while ago, too, and thought it was pretty strange. It seems kind of counterintuitive, even if the package adds a little bit of functionality.

We seem to go through this with every newb. NAV+ML is not the same as VN. VN includes a DVD changer, NAV+ML does not. Hence the $500 difference.

Default Thanks for the reply .....

I figured that out after I posted. I don't see how the DVD is worth much at all for most owners since you can't watch it while driving unless you hack it. So who actually watches DVD's while parked?? It seems like a worthless gimmick, imo.

All depends upon what you're doing while listening to music and parked . . .
