Default Navigation: Change Destination While Driving

Navigation does not allow me to change destination while driving. My salesman told me this is a safety feature to prevent distraction while driving. I am on the road a lot and often need to change my route. Is there a way to override this feature? I do not see this listed as a personal setting option.

^ I think that works until the turn the car off and then you do it again when you start the car. Since you need it regularly, I suggest you do the NAV hack and you can learn how to do it by searching the thread about it on this forum.

The nav hack doesn't bypass this. You have to do it every time. Thankfully you can do it while in motion; I did it today while on the freeway at speed without any problems.

if you dont have the ML package, doing the nav hack is useless. I know u can't use the numbers to dial or organize your mp3 list, but i dont think those two are worth it.

if i had hte ML package, i would do it in a heartbeat.

Press Menu

Press the Bottom Left Corner (there is nothing there)
Press the Top Left Corner
Press the Bottom Left Corner

A new menu screen will come up

Press and hold Override for 5 seconds or until you hear a beep

You will need to do this again after turn off the engine the next time u need to override again.
So the nav hack will not bypass this feature, you have to do it everytime you restart the car.

If you know where you are going for the day, you can store your destinations in the presets....I think you get about 6 of them. Those can be used while driving....always.

You've done this? Tim817 has it all wrong? All the other threads I've read about this are wrong? Maybe this is a US thing, and is different on the Euro versions?

I don't hack OEM harnesses, and I especially don't unecessarily cut wires (if I were to do this, I'd remove the pins from the connectors and leave the wiring essentially intact), so I have no desire to literally hack the harness on my car unless someone can say with absolute certainty that I will be able to reroute my destination on a US model with the hack in place. I didn't find anything to support the idea I could change my destination with the hack, only play DVDs and access MP3 folders while in motion - and I really don't care about either of those functions being enabled while moving (personal preference - even if I had it, I'd probably never use it.)

So what's the story?

Let me clarify what I THINK the question is.....

Does the nav/hack give you the ability to change destinations while driving, or allow to enter destinations while driving.

Answer: NO.

The Nav/Hack simply allows you to watch DVD's, use all phone features, and view mp3 files/folders.

It does NOT allow any more navigation based features.

Not in the US it won't when it is done per standard instructions. Have you been able to bypass this feature by cutting wires or you just bs'ing everyone? Perhaps it is different in your country....but somehow I doubt it.
