Default Got a ticket today ..... 74 in a 60 ....

A rural TX country road and the copper is coming the other way and nabs me doing 14 mph over the limit. The law is the law but I thought it was a bit cheesy considering the circumstances (empty road, clear conditions). $145 fine, but dropped to $104 if I want to go to the Driver's Safety Course.

Question, I have the choice of pleading GUILTY or NO CONTEST, both of which attract the fine. For the lawyer types, what's the difference between Guilty and No Contest?? Just the admission of guilt? Does it make any difference?

I was told it only makes a difference if you expect to suffer civil litigation as well. AFA criminal it is equal to guilty in all respects.

My ex grabbed the steering wheel while I was driving. We bounced off the median wall and I broke out the driver's side window with my face resulting in some pretty nice lacerations. She was cited for interfering with the driver of a motor vehicle. She pleaded no contest to avoid her guilty plea being used against her if I chose to sue her in civil court.

I plead no contest to a speeding ticket. The judge asked me if there was civil litigation pending against me as a result of my speeding. I said no. He said a no contest plea makes no difference to my criminal and driving record: it is still guilty in the eyes of the law.

That's my practical experience of no contest pleas.

The only reason it is so good for now with ZERO is because I got the 250 and not the 350. That was the plan. In my eclipse I got 2, in my G20 I got 1, in my nissan truck I got 2, and in my neon I got 4. I am only 30 and that is how my speeding tickets I have had since I have started driving...again that is why I got the 250.

After six months of having my 350, I finally got a ticket. I got clocked goin 21 over, right as I turned a blind corner. and since its a federal ticket I can't go to driving school. luckily since this was my first ticket, they threw out wreckless driving.

You can't get a ticket for wreckless driving unless it's from your English teacher; it's reckless driving that can get you in trouble with the police.

Default Speeding Ticket

Anybody gotten a speeding ticket in their ride yet?

I JUST got my new 08 IS350 on Saturday and got a speeding ticket doing 89mph on my way out to California yesterday. This car is so much faster than what I've been used to. I seriously didn't even realize I was that going that fast.

Anyways, this whole incident has gotten me interested in radar detectors. Anybody recommend a good one that really works from experience?

Speed is dangerously deceptive in luxury cars. When you're going 100mph it feels like 40-50mph cruising in a Civic. A civic at 100mph feels like its about to fall apart lol. The top 2 radar detectors are the Valentine 1 and Passport 9500. Take your pick. I'll just say this though...don't let your dependency on the radar screw you over. Some people trust the radar 100% once they get it. They stop looking in the mirrors and checking around the bends. A radar is only gonna prevent you from gettin 50% of your tickets. The other 50% you still have to watch for with your eyes.

Use your speed indicator instead .

I haven't gotten a ticket, but for many times, I've accelerated to 60 mph in a 35 mph zone without realizing it.

the radar detector also won't help you at night if the cop is behind you and is tracking your speed by just keeping up with you.
